Original job description
About Primordial Labs We're building the next generation interface for commanding autonomous systems in the real world. Our core product, Anura, translates spoken or typed intent into structured actions across drones, sensors, and mission software - enabling faster, more intuitive control in high-stakes environments. We’re a distributed team of engineers, operators, and technologists focused on deploying reliable autonomy at the tactical edge.
The Opportunity Anura has to run everywhere our customers operate, from a robot’s onboard computer to networks with no internet connection at all. We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who will own how our software gets built, tested, and delivered.Your job is to turn mature our pipeline into a more extensive CI/CD pipeline that takes a change from a developer’s laptop to a fielded robot, and to make that path fast, repeatable, and trustworthy. This role suits someone who wants their infrastructure work to show up in the field, not just on a dashboard. In your first six months, you’ll focus on expanding our CI/CD and automated testing. From there, you’ll take on edge deployment and updates, then help us grow into secure and disconnected delivery.
What You'll Do
Build, Test & Delivery Pipelines:
- Mature and expand our existing GitHub Actions CI into full CI/CD, from commit through release, with automated build, test, and packaging for multiple target platforms and reproducible releases.
- Integrate the testing tools our engineers and Test and Evaluation team build so they run automatically and reliably on every change.
- Set up and maintain self-hosted runners, including GPU and hardware-in-the-loop runners, so simulation and hardware tests catch issues before they reach a robot.
- Keep pipelines fast and trustworthy: reduce build times, track down flaky tests, and make results easy for engineers to act on.
Edge & On-Device Deployment:
- Design how Anura is packaged, deployed, and updated on robotic and embedded compute platforms, including NVIDIA GPU edge devices, and work alongside engineers to bring up new partner platforms quickly.
- Build safe update workflows for fielded devices, including versioned releases, rollback, and tracking which version runs on which customer’s hardware.
- Build tooling for monitoring, logging, and diagnostics on devices with limited bandwidth or intermittent connectivity.
Team Operations:
- Automate environment setup and other manual workflows that slow engineers down.
- Help the team adopt good testing and CI habits through documentation, reviews, and pairing.
Secure Delivery (growing over time):
- Help build delivery workflows for air-gapped customer networks, including offline packaging and transfer.
- Add security practices to our pipelines, such as dependency scanning, signing, and SBOM generation.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5-8 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines with automated testing.
- Experience deploying software to edge, embedded, or robotic systems.
- Strong with GitHub Actions or a similar CI system, including self-hosted runners.
- Experience building and testing mixed Python and C++ codebases, including CMake.
- Strong with Docker and containerized builds.
- Proficient in Linux administration and scripting in Python or Bash.
- Able to own problems end to end and make sound decisions without a large team around you.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience delivering software into air-gapped or classified environments.
- Experience deploying to NVIDIA Jetson or other GPU edge hardware, including GPU-enabled containers and cross-compiling for ARM.
- Experience with software supply chain security and compliance, such as code signing, SBOMs, NIST 800-171, or CMMC.
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) and a major cloud provider, with AWS GovCloud or Azure Government a plus.
- Experience at a startup or small defense technology company.
Important Qualification Note: Due to the nature of our work and federal compliance requirements, this position strictly requires U.S. Citizenship and current residency within the United States. Please note that Permanent Residency (Green Card status) or visa sponsorship cannot satisfy these specific regulatory requirements.
Compensation
Compensation for this position includes a target base salary of $160,000 - $200,000 annually, with the specific figure determined by the candidate's experience level. We’re committed to fair and equitable compensation and are happy to explain how we determine our salary ranges, just ask!
Our Benefits
- Beyond a Competitive Salary, we provide a significant equity stake, aligning your growth with ours.
- 100% Remote: This role is fully remote, open to residents across the US. We believe that talent knows no borders (well, except for the US in this case!).
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans so you and your family can stay healthy and worry free.
- Retirement Planning: Plan for tomorrow with our 401(k) package, complete with a generous 6% company match.

- Elite Technology Package: Enjoy an elite technology package to make your work effortless and efficient.
Our Interview Process Our interview process is designed to be thorough and respectful of your time. It typically includes:
- Conversation with the People Team: Lets get to know one another first!
- Screener Interview: A 30-minute discussion about relevant engineering concepts and your past experience.
- Offline Coding Test: We provide an at-your-own-pace test focused on algorithm and system design. After completion, you'll present your solution in a follow-up call. This allows us to understand your thought processes and technical approach.
- Technical Collaboration & Team Q&A: Walk through a recent code sample with the engineering team, discuss your design choices, and ask us anything about our stack, culture, and day to day work.
We are committed to a low-stress interview experience - no trick questions or brain teasers!
