Original job description

Precision is an integrated strategy and communications firm advising companies and organizations at the intersection of policy, reputation, and public opinion. The firm combines senior bipartisan political and communications talent with proprietary data and AI platforms to develop and run integrated campaigns that help clients seize opportunities and solve their biggest challenges. Precision’s integrated model spans strategic communications, corporate advisory, public affairs, reputation management, crisis and litigation support, data and analytics, paid media, and creative. The firm is backed by a bipartisan, 50-State Network following its acquisition of Firehouse Strategies. ABRY Partners is a strategic investor in Precision.

Position Overview Precision is seeking a Senior Video Designer with excellent editorial instincts and a strong command of imagery, sound, pacing, and rhythm. This is primarily a hands-on editing and post-production role for someone who can take an established concept or script and make it compelling on screen.

You’ll edit a wide range of video work across accounts, bringing judgment and craft to everything from short social pieces to longer narrative edits. Working closely with our internal creative leads, you’ll make decisions about performance, footage, music, sound, typography, and timing that strengthen the idea and give each piece its character.

Our work often deals with complex issues at the intersection of technology, people, government, law, and politics. We’re looking for someone who takes an interest in the world and brings that curiosity to the edit - someone who understands the substance of a piece and knows how creative choices affect its meaning.

Alongside your own projects, you’ll help junior editors develop their craft through thoughtful feedback, delegation, and review.

The position can be based in either Washington, D.C. or New York, NY.

What You’ll Do

  • Own edits from initial assembly through final delivery, managing a range of projects with a high degree of independence.
  • Bring established concepts and scripts to life through editing, sound, and motion.
  • Shape footage, performances, music, sound, and pacing into edits that communicate clearly and hold attention.
  • Bring strong design judgment to on-screen typography, titles, graphics, and subtle animation.
  • Partner with creative directors, producers, copywriters, and designers to develop and refine the work.
  • Share cuts internally, explain your creative decisions, and respond thoughtfully to feedback.
  • Adapt edits for different channels, lengths, and formats while preserving the strength of the original idea.
  • Maintain organized projects and oversee finishing details, technical quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Delegate appropriate assignments to junior editors, review their work, and provide specific feedback that improves both the piece and their skills.
  • Manage competing deadlines and flag production needs or obstacles early.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of relevant video editing and post-production experience.
  • A portfolio demonstrating range, strong storytelling instincts, and excellent use of pacing, sound, music, and imagery.
  • The ability to make an established concept work visually, sonically, and rhythmically.
  • Strong technical editing skills; proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe video workflow is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to create well-crafted motion typography and subtle animation. Advanced character animation or illustration is not a core requirement.
  • The judgment to work independently and the openness to develop an edit collaboratively.
  • Experience guiding other editors through clear direction, useful feedback, and review.
  • Curiosity about complex subjects and sensitivity to how editing choices shape a message.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver across multiple projects.
  • A bachelor’s degree, ideally in a creative field, is preferred but not required.

How to Apply Submit an application online via Precision’s careers page and include your resume as well as a reel or portfolio of completed edits, with a brief explanation of your contribution to each piece. What We Offer

  • Competitive salaries
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • Flexible hybrid remote/in office plan
  • Retirement plan with automatic 3% safe-harbor contribution from Precision
  • Healthcare coverage - medical, dental, and vision with 90% of costs covered by Precision
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and floating holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Professional development stipend

The annual salary range for this position is $105,000.00 to $134,999.00. Actual compensation and starting salaries are determined by various factors, including the candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity. Once at Precision, movement through pay bands is based on performance. Base annual salary is just one component of Precision’s total compensation approach.

We currently work in a hybrid model and require staff to work in the office 50% of working days each month. Precision is an equal opportunity employer.
