Overview

Most managers supervise people. Great leaders build teams, create accountability, develop talent, and drive results. We're looking for a strong operational leader to take ownership of our growing Electrical & Generator business throughout the Chicagoland area. This is an opportunity for a high-impact leader who enjoys coaching field teams, solving operational challenges, improving performance, and building a culture that people want to be a part of.

If you're currently leading electricians, generator technicians, field service teams, HVAC operations, plumbing departments, or other skilled trades professionals and you're ready for a bigger opportunity, we want to talk with you.

This is a leadership role for someone who wants to be in the business, supporting the team, improving performance, and helping build a market-leading operation.

Why This Role Matters:

Every day, our Electrical & Generator teams help homeowners protect their homes, improve safety, and keep their families powered when it matters most. As the Electrical & Generator Department Manager, you will be responsible for creating the environment, systems, and accountability that allow those teams to succeed.

You'll lead technicians, installers, and field leaders while driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, profitability, and growth. If you enjoy seeing people develop, solving problems, and winning as a team, you'll love this opportunity.

What You'll Own:

Lead the Team

Develop, coach, and motivate Electrical & Generator team members.
Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and career development.
Create clear expectations and help team members achieve their goals.
Recognize wins and address performance opportunities quickly and effectively.

Drive Operational Excellence

Own day-to-day service and installation operations.
Set priorities, remove roadblocks, and keep the business moving forward.
Improve scheduling efficiency, technician productivity, and operational execution.
Ensure jobs are completed safely, profitably, and at the highest quality standards.
Maintain strong communication between operations, sales, and leadership teams.

Manage Performance

Analyze KPIs and operational metrics.
Develop action plans to improve customer satisfaction, revenue, profitability, and efficiency.
Monitor labor performance, material usage, and job quality.
Drive accountability through performance tracking, coaching, and follow-up.

Champion Safety & Quality

Promote and enforce world-class safety standards.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry requirements.
Lead by example in maintaining a culture focused on safe, high-quality work.
Support teams in delivering exceptional customer experiences on every job.

You'll Excel If You:

Lead with accountability and respect
Enjoy coaching and developing talent
Can balance people leadership with operational discipline
Take ownership of results
Know how to motivate field teams
Make decisions with confidence
Love identifying opportunities for improvement
Thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

What You Bring:

Required Experience:

5+ years of leadership experience within electrical, generator, home services, or skilled trades operations.
Experience leading electricians, generator technicians, installers, or field service professionals.
Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams.
Track record of improving operational efficiency and business performance.
Strong planning, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to lead through change and growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

Electrical, generator, or home service industry experience.
Experience managing field operations and service teams.
Knowledge of budgeting, KPIs, labor management, and operational reporting.
Experience with ServiceTitan or other field service management platforms.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
