• Security Shift Manager Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino | Altoona, Iowa Department: Security Position Type: Full-Time Schedule: To be decided Position Summary Prairie Meadows is seeking a Security Shift Manager to lead daily security operations and help safeguard our guests, employees, and company assets. This position oversees security supervisors and staff, supports employee development, and ensures security policies and procedures are consistently followed. The Security Shift Manager reports to the Director of Security and assumes responsibility for department operations in the Director’s absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily security activities across Casino Security, Parking Security, the Security Control Room, and Backside Security.
• Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate security supervisors and employees.
• Plan, assign, and direct work; assist with scheduling; and maintain attendance, vacation, and other personnel records.
• Enforce security policies and procedures and safeguard company assets.
• Address employee concerns, resolve problems, recognize performance, and administer discipline in accordance with company policies.
• Address individuals without the required gaming identification badge in nonpublic areas.
• Report unsafe conditions and injuries promptly, follow safety procedures, and complete required training.
• Deliver exceptional service to guests and coworkers through Prairie Meadows’ JACKPOT guest service standards.
• Promote a respectful workplace through honesty, consideration, and cooperation.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience and/or training required. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and meet company insurance requirements. An Iowa Racing and Gaming License is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain TIPS and Title 31 certifications. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to prepare accurate reports, interpret procedures, speak effectively to groups, and work with people from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must be able to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, and maintain regular, reliable attendance. Physical Requirements and Work Environment This position requires standing, walking, sitting, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and occasional reaching, climbing, or balancing. Employees must regularly lift or move 100 pounds and be able to lift a 37-pound birdcage up to 36 inches, over a 12-inch barrier, and lower it back down using one or both hands. Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work may involve indoor and outdoor assignments, very loud noise, extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, elevated locations, fumes or airborne particles, and occasional exposure to mechanical, chemical, or electrical hazards.
