Spreader

Position Summary

The Material Spreader is responsible for preparing, spreading, aligning, and securing materials on cutting tables according to production orders and specifications. This position ensures materials are properly identified and positioned for cutting while maintaining quality, accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Spread and arrange multiple layers of material on cutting tables, ensuring proper alignment and preparation for the cutting process.
• Secure material edges to prevent shifting or movement during cutting operations.
• Review production orders and identify the appropriate materials based on specifications and production requirements.
• Recognize and differentiate between various types of fabrics and materials to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
• Inspect materials for visible defects, inconsistencies, or irregularities and report concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when preparing materials to minimize errors and material waste.
• Follow established production procedures, work instructions, and company quality standards.
• Comply with all workplace safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of materials.
• Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or production concerns to the supervisor.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: No minimum education requirement.
• Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing, textile, or production environment is preferred but not required.
• Communication: Ability to understand and follow basic work instructions, production specifications, and safety procedures in English.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to identify different materials, recognize discrepancies, and maintain accuracy when preparing production orders.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain an organized workspace and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Safety Awareness: Ability to follow established workplace safety procedures and quality standards.
• Attendance: Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements while handling and positioning materials.
• Ability to bend, reach, stretch, and occasionally kneel while performing assigned duties.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required by production operations.
• Ability to handle and position multiple layers of fabric or other materials on cutting tables.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

• Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production environment.
• May be exposed to machinery noise, moving equipment, and production-related materials.
• Must follow all established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production operations.
