Original job description

At PMAT, we work on mission-critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.

In this role, you'll support PMAT's internal cybersecurity and IT operations, working alongside IT leadership to strengthen endpoint security, remediate vulnerabilities, support compliance initiatives, and maintain secure, reliable systems across our Microsoft cloud and on-premises environments.

About the role: As an IT Security Administrator, you'll support PMAT's day-to-day cybersecurity operations with a focus on security monitoring, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, CMMC compliance, and technical documentation. You'll work primarily with Microsoft Defender, Intune, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 GCC High to investigate security alerts, address vulnerabilities, maintain endpoint compliance, and support audit readiness. You'll also assist with escalated IT support and security-related tasks across Microsoft Azure, VMware ESXi/vCenter, and limited AWS environments. Working closely with IT leadership, you'll help implement security improvements, maintain accurate documentation, and track remediation activities through completion.

Responsibilities:

Security Operations & Monitoring: Monitor and investigate security alerts, phishing attempts, and suspicious activity using Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and other security platforms. Perform initial incident triage, document findings, and coordinate incident response and remediation efforts.
Vulnerability Management & Remediation: Identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities using Tenable, Microsoft Defender, and other tools. Manage security updates, address configuration weaknesses, and track findings through resolution.
Endpoint Security & Access Management: Support Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 GCC High security operations, including device compliance, endpoint protection, access reviews, MFA, Conditional Access, and security policy enforcement.
CMMC Compliance & Audit Support: Assist with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 compliance activities, including security assessments, audit evidence collection, control validation, remediation tracking, and maintaining audit readiness.
Security Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain security procedures, SOPs, incident records, vulnerability reports, system inventories, and compliance documentation to support consistent and auditable IT operations.
IT Support & Security Improvements: Provide technical support and troubleshooting across cloud and on-premises environments, including Microsoft Azure, VMware ESXi/vCenter, and limited AWS resources. Assist with security automation, system hardening, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About Us: PMAT is an innovative small business founded with a passion for developing forward-leaning solutions from exceptional people that increase the mission's capability. We focus on designing and building impactful digital solutions that utilize modern cloud, data, and software concepts. Our passion is working on complex and progressive challenges such as edge platform computing, containerizing legacy platforms, distributed data platforms, or heterogeneous data analysis.

We recruit, retain, and foster a team motivated to pursue passions, investigate new ways of doing things, and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe in being curious about every element of a problem and experiment relentlessly. We foster continuous learning in an environment that encourages positive collaboration and expands our capabilities. We tap into collective intelligence, acknowledging that the most brilliant people may not be in the room. Above all else, we believe that delivering and demonstrating is more potent than a sheet of paper. We are passionate about mission-centric design and delivering effective capabilities to and for the warfighter.

Whether you’re an experienced engineer or just beginning your career, you’ll work alongside experts who are committed to solving mission-critical problems. If you’re passionate about using your skills to make a real difference, apply today and become part of a team that’s shaping the future of defense technology!
