This role requires travel to six operating facilities across Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas to provide on-site support, build relationships, and ensure consistency across locations.

Position Overview PK Safety Services is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant to support a multi-site industrial chemical distribution and blending operation through a comprehensive safety compliance and program development project. This position is intended for a highly experienced, self-motivated EHS professional who can independently evaluate existing safety programs, identify regulatory and operational gaps, develop and implement corrective solutions, and establish sustainable safety management practices across multiple facilities. The consultant will be responsible for assessing existing written programs, evaluating actual site operations, determining applicable regulatory requirements, developing missing or deficient programs, and supporting the implementation of required employee training. The project will encompass six industrial facilities located across the Midwest and Gulf Coast regions. The ideal candidate will possess the technical knowledge and practical experience to recognize where programs are deficient, understand how regulatory requirements apply to actual operations, and provide clear recommendations and solutions with minimal day-to-day oversight. This is not a traditional safety monitoring position. We are seeking a senior-level professional capable of taking ownership of an EHS compliance assessment and program improvement initiative from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Program Assessment & Development

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of existing Environmental, Health & Safety programs, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Identify required EHS programs based on applicable OSHA standards, industry requirements, facility operations, and regulatory obligations.
  • Evaluate the adequacy, accuracy, and effectiveness of existing written programs against applicable regulations and actual site practices.
  • Identify missing programs, compliance deficiencies, training gaps, and areas of operational risk.
  • Develop, revise, and implement written EHS programs, policies, procedures, and supporting documentation as necessary.
  • Ensure written programs accurately reflect applicable regulatory requirements and the company's actual operational practices.
  • Establish practical, sustainable safety management processes that can be maintained by the client's internal EHS personnel following project completion.

Multi-Site Operational Assessments

  • Conduct onsite assessments at all six facilities to evaluate actual work practices, equipment, processes, and employee activities.
  • Assess operations involving chemical distribution, bulk and packaged material handling, warehouse activities, delivery operations, and chemical blending.
  • Identify discrepancies between written procedures, regulatory requirements, and actual field operations.
  • Provide site-specific recommendations for correcting identified deficiencies and improving overall safety performance.
  • Evaluate consistency of EHS practices across locations and identify opportunities to standardize programs and procedures.

Training Development & Implementation

  • Identify all required employee safety training based on applicable regulations, job responsibilities, and facility operations.
  • Review existing training materials, records, and employee training practices.
  • Develop or update training materials, presentations, procedures, and supporting documentation for required EHS programs.
  • Establish a sustainable training framework, including recommended training frequencies, documentation requirements, and employee qualification tracking.
  • Provide employee and management training onsite as required by the project scope.
  • Support the client's internal EHS personnel in understanding program requirements, implementation expectations, and ongoing program administration.

Project Management & Client Support

  • Independently manage project priorities, assessment activities, and deliverables across multiple facilities.
  • Maintain clear communication with client leadership and designated EHS personnel regarding progress, findings, deficiencies, and recommendations.
  • Provide documented gap assessments, corrective action recommendations, and project status updates.
  • Prioritize deficiencies based on regulatory exposure, operational risk, and implementation requirements.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to the client's internal EHS personnel to ensure programs can be maintained following project completion.
  • Complete the project with organized, updated, and actionable EHS documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety experience, with demonstrated experience in senior-level EHS program development, compliance management, and implementation.
  • Proven experience conducting comprehensive EHS compliance assessments or safety program audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify, develop, revise, and implement written EHS programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910), including applicable requirements for chemical handling, warehousing, blending, and industrial operations.
  • Experience evaluating written safety programs against regulatory requirements and actual workplace practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing employee safety training programs.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, operationally effective procedures.
  • Strong project management, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple locations, and complete project deliverables with minimal oversight.
  • Professional ability to interact with company leadership, facility management, employees, and internal EHS personnel.
  • Ability to travel to and conduct onsite assessments at multiple facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, chemical distribution, blending, bulk material handling, or industrial warehouse operations.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations with varying facility sizes and operational requirements.
  • Experience with OSHA compliance audits, EHS management systems, and regulatory gap assessments.
  • Familiarity with applicable EPA requirements and environmental compliance programs.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training or equivalent advanced safety training.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant professional certification preferred.
