Original job description
Overview
The Generative AI Trainer teaches PhoenixTeam employees and client teams to use generative AI tools safely, confidently, and effectively in their day-to-day work. Reporting to the Managing Director, Chief AI Engineer, this individual contributor designs and facilitates practical workshops, coaches learners through realistic business tasks, and creates reusable training materials that make learning stick.
This is a people-training role - not AI model training, data annotation, output rating, or production AI engineering. The trainer combines strong live facilitation and curriculum development with practical fluency in ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable tools, then improves instruction through learner feedback and available adoption evidence.
Key Functions
- Design and deliver engaging live and virtual generative AI workshops for employees and client staff across functions, experience levels, and practical work scenarios.
- Develop reusable curricula, slide decks, exercises, prompt examples, quick-start guides, job aids, and short recorded demonstrations for independent learning.
- Coach individuals and small groups on approved AI tools for drafting, research, analysis, and process documentation; teach prompting, iteration, and output verification.
- Teach responsible use of AI, including privacy, confidentiality, appropriate data inputs, inaccurate or fabricated outputs, bias, and the need for human review under company and client policies.
- Facilitate mixed-experience groups constructively, address skepticism and learning barriers, answer questions clearly, and adapt instruction to audience needs.
- Coordinate training cohorts, schedules, learning materials, participation, session follow-up, and feedback while managing concurrent priorities.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using participant feedback, confidence surveys, practical application examples, and appropriately available adoption or usage data; share improvement insights.
- Stay current on relevant AI tools and policy changes, test examples before teaching them, and revise training content through a consistent feedback loop.
- Partner with the Managing Director, subject-matter experts, and relevant business or compliance stakeholders to align instruction with actual needs and approved guardrails.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in training, teaching, facilitation, enablement, consulting, or a related field.
- Hands-on fluency with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Microsoft Copilot, including prompting, iteration, and verifying results for business use.
- Experience designing understandable training content, such as presentations, exercises, guides, job aids, or recorded demonstrations.
- Demonstrated live and virtual facilitation skills, including explaining unfamiliar technical concepts to non-technical learners and adapting to different needs.
- Sound judgment about confidentiality, data privacy, permitted tools, and the accuracy and limitations of AI-generated content.
- Strong organization, empathy, critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple training activities or shifting priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications or Skills
- Experience delivering workplace training in mortgage, financial services, housing, consulting, or another regulated environment.
- Background in instructional design, adult-learning methods, or organizational change management.
- Experience with no-code automation or configuring custom assistants such as custom GPTs, Claude Projects, or Copilot agents.
- Familiarity with learning management systems or content-authoring tools such as Loom or Articulate.
- Relevant training, facilitation, or AI-literacy certifications.
Position Details
- Employment type: Full-Time, W2 employee; not a contract or 1099 position.
- Work arrangement: Remote-first, U.S.-based, with flexible scheduling to accommodate planned training sessions and business needs; Arlington, VA collaboration is an option.
- Hours: 40 hours/week, with flexible scheduling coordinated around training sessions and business needs.
- Travel: Up to 10% may be required based on business or client needs.
- Annual base salary range: $60,000-$80,000.
- Direct reports: None (individual contributor).
