Job Description & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Field Application Engineer to join our growing team. As a Field Application Engineer, you will be a critical member of our Air Force Team based in Fort Collins, CO, supporting a government sustainment program for our tactical communications solutions. Our programs support Defense, Communications, Security Forces, and Convoy Operations missions.

In this role, you will serve as the technical lead and subject-matter expert for equipment sustainment, logistics, and performance reporting for fielded Wave Relay® MANET systems. You will own the data that tells our customers how their equipment is performing: tracking deployed assets and Government Furnished Equipment, capturing and analyzing equipment deficiencies, calculating reliability metrics, and delivering accurate, on-time Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables. You will have direct and recurring interaction with customers and play a pivotal role in communicating technical challenges and performance trends to Program Engineers and Program Managers.

This position requires exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to Government deliverables. Your reports will directly inform customer readiness decisions, spares procurement, and engineering improvements.

Position Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering CDRLs and other contractual technical deliverables, including failure analysis, performance analysis, maintenance service, spare parts, IUID, and GFE inventory reports
  • Calculating and reporting equipment performance metrics, including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Operational Availability (Ao)
  • Tracking Equipment Deficiency Reports (EDRs) through root cause analysis, corrective action, and closure within a closed-loop FRACAS, and translating validated deficiencies into Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Maintaining the program maintenance database and managing asset tracking, IUID, and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) accountability across deployed customer sites
  • Supporting configuration management, Configuration Control Boards, and Government reviews
  • Briefing system performance data to key stakeholders and providing technical advice to management on strategic or project issues
  • Conducting development testing on new and existing Wave Relay® products and completing engineering tasks such as defining requirements, interpreting diagrams and specifications, developing test plans, and writing technical reports
  • Serving as a technical specialist on the Wave Relay® suite of products, providing direct customer support, training, and integration assistance for external systems, sensors, and components
  • Traveling to test locations and customer sites to support the testing, evaluation, deployment, and sustainment of the Wave Relay® system

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience, not inclusive of education
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Experience managing equipment inventory, logistics, or tracking fielded equipment
  • Experience developing and delivering Government contract deliverables such as CDRLs
  • Experience collecting and analyzing equipment performance data, including reliability and maintainability metrics such as MTBF and MTTR
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated record of meeting deliverable deadlines
  • Knowledge of networking and IP schemes and/or knowledge of radio frequencies (RF) and wireless communications
  • Experience working with customers and as part of a team with remote members
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time
  • Must have a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain a United States security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree (preferably in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or another discipline with a focus on system integration) or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing a government logistics program
  • Experience with FRACAS processes (MIL-HDBK-2155), IUID, and Government property accountability
  • Experience with configuration management and technical data packages (MIL-STD-31000)
  • Reliability or logistics certification, such as ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
  • Advanced Excel skills, or experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or SQL
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Mobile Ad hoc Networking
  • Current Network+ / Security+ certification or other networking certifications
  • Proven experience writing reports and building test plans
  • Experience in performing consultative, solutions-based design and implementation for clients
