Overview:
The Larry D. Thompson Fellowship Program honors the legacy of Larry D. Thompson, former General Counsel of PepsiCo, distinguished public servant, and lifelong mentor to aspiring attorneys. Throughout his career, Mr. Thompson demonstrated that effective lawyers do more than solve legal problems. They serve as trusted advisors, exercise sound judgment, uphold the highest ethical standards, and help organizations act responsibly. In his book Quiet Counsel, Mr. Thompson emphasizes the importance of preparing future leaders to navigate complex legal and business challenges with wisdom, integrity, and purpose.
Inspired by these principles, the Larry D. Thompson Fellowship Program invests in the next generation of legal leaders by providing first-generation,1 law students with meaningful exposure to in-house legal practice, professional development opportunities, and mentorship from PepsiCo attorneys. Now in its tenth year, the Program offers fellowships to first-year law students and is designed to foster leadership, professional growth, and a commitment to ethical and responsible legal practice.
Responsibilities
The 2027 Thompson Fellowship Program ("Program") is a 9-week summer fellowship that provides first year law students with meaningful exposure to the practice of law in a global corporate environment. Consistent with the leadership principles championed by Larry D. Thompson, Fellows will have opportunities to engage with attorneys and business leaders across PepsiCo, develop practical legal skills, and learn how legal professionals contribute to ethical and responsible decision-making. Fellows will work at PepsiCo's headquarters in Purchase, New York or Plano, Texas and will be exposed to a variety of legal and business functions, including:
- Corporate Governance, Finance & Securities
- Litigation
- Mergers & Acquisitions
