• Schedule: Monday-Friday | First Shift | 7:00 AM-4:00 PM Pacific | 9/80 Schedule
• Pay Rate: $66.16 per hour

As a Principal Technical Editor and Writer , you will be responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining highly technical documentation that supports aerospace products and systems throughout their lifecycle. Working alongside engineering, product support, maintenance, and program teams, you'll turn complex technical data into clear, accurate, and actionable content that enables operational success.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

• Write, edit, revise, and maintain technical publications, manuals, and support documentation.
• Develop technical procedure manuals, user guides, operational specifications, service manuals, and maintenance publications.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and design documentation.
• Interview engineers, product developers, and subject matter experts to acquire technical knowledge and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Observe manufacturing and maintenance processes to accurately capture procedures and best practices.
• Author and develop Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
• Ensure documentation complies with applicable military standards, style guides, and program requirements.
• Oversee the development and selection of illustrations, diagrams, charts, sketches, and technical graphics.
• Perform quality reviews and audits of technical manuals and publications.
• Support verification and validation activities for technical documentation.
• Publish and validate technical content using industry-standard tools and systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality documentation on schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of related experience , OR
• Master's Degree and 3+ years of related experience , OR
• PhD and 1+ year of related experience .
• Experience authoring and developing IETM data modules using S1000D specifications.
• Experience with:
• MIL-STD-38784
• MIL-STD-3048
• MIL-STD-1808
• Technical Manual Style Guide requirements
• Hands-on experience with:
• Arbortext
• SGML and/or XML authoring tools
• Astoria Navigator Common Source Database
• IETM technical publication development processes
• Strong experience developing maintenance-related technical procedures, including:
• Fault Isolation
• Fault Reporting
• Operational Procedures
• Repair Procedures
• Scheduled Maintenance
• Electrical Maintenance
• Mechanical Maintenance
• Avionics Maintenance
• Experience working with Illustration Parts Breakdown (IPB) documentation.
• Familiarity with SpecView IETM Viewer for publishing and verification activities.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
• Willingness to travel to customer-designated locations to support verification events.

• Hands-on maintenance experience with:
• RQ-4 Unmanned Aircraft Systems
• USAF Global Hawk
• MQ-4 Triton
• NATO AGS Programs
• International FMS Programs including ROK and Japan
• Experience using Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) Operations and Maintenance Manuals (OMM).
• Participation in Customer Validation and Verification (CVV) events.
• Knowledge of Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs).
• Lead Writer experience supporting Agile development environments.
• Experience utilizing Agile and JIRA best practices.
• Aerospace, defense, military, or aviation technical publications experience.

Pay Details: $66.16 per hour
