PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Machinist 1, in San Diego, CA. Job ID#226584 Pay Rate: $29 - $34/hr

Job Description:

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Position is for 2nd Shift Hours: 01:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Basic Qualifications for Machinist 1 Must have experience with setting up and running Flow waterjet. Able to understand machining theory and strategy Able to understand and interrogate mechanical drawings and tolerances Ability to use common machine shop hand and measurement tools Self-motivation, able to accomplish a high level of work Team player, actively participating in continuous improvement projects with coworkers. Demonstrate high skill level with the desire for continuous learning Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills. Ability to work with limited supervision including using sound judgment to execute independent decisions and departmental initiatives. Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals. Highly self-motivated and directed. Keen attention to detail. Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change.

Preferred Qualifications for Machinist 1 Experience programming with Flow software. Prior experience in an aerospace environment preferred
