Reports to: Principal Software Architect

Purpose

The Software Architect serves as a technology innovator, problem solver, and trusted advisor who works directly with business and product teams to identify opportunities for meaningful organizational improvement.

Rather than focusing solely on system design, this role helps discover high-value problems, explore innovative approaches, rapidly prototype solutions, and guide initiatives from concept through early delivery. The Software Architect combines broad technical expertise, strong communication skills, and business acumen to bridge the gap between ideas and implementation.

This role operates at the intersection of technology, operations, and business strategy, helping PANTHERx leverage data, automation, integration, and emerging technologies to improve outcomes, increase efficiency, and create organizational value.

The Software Architect acts as both a hands-on technologist and a facilitator, collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to transform complex challenges into practical, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

Solution & Application Architecture

  • Designs and oversees software solutions that support business operations, strategic initiatives, and organizational transformation efforts.
  • Partners directly with business and product stakeholders to identify challenges, uncover opportunities, and define high-value technology solutions.
  • Translates complex business problems into scalable, secure, maintainable, and practical technical solutions.
  • Develops application, integration, data, and platform architectures that align with organizational standards and long-term technology objectives.
  • Creates and maintains architecture diagrams, technical designs, reference architectures, and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluates and recommends technologies, frameworks, tools, and platforms that support both immediate business needs and long-term strategic goals.
  • Balances innovation with practicality, ensuring solutions can successfully transition to long-term ownership and support.

Technical Leadership

  • Provides technical leadership throughout the discovery, design, prototyping, and implementation phases of technology initiatives.
  • Leads architectural and technical decision-making for complex projects and enterprise solutions.
  • Serves as a mentor and trusted advisor to software engineers, technical teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Participates in architecture reviews, code reviews, design sessions, and technical planning activities.
  • Establishes and promotes software engineering best practices, development standards, architectural principles, and design patterns.
  • Guides teams through technical challenges, modernization initiatives, and solution delivery efforts.
  • Supports the successful transition of solutions from early development through operational ownership by delivery teams.

Development & Engineering

  • Maintains hands-on involvement in software design, development, integration, and implementation activities.
  • Builds prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and production-ready software solutions to validate ideas and accelerate project delivery.
  • Acts as the primary technical contributor during the early phases of initiatives, establishing foundational architecture, code patterns, and implementation approaches.
  • Develops applications, APIs, integrations, automation solutions, analytics platforms, and cloud-native services as needed.
  • Collaborates closely with development teams to ensure architectural vision is effectively executed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Works with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support deployment automation, monitoring, operational excellence, and solution reliability.
  • Ensures solutions are designed for performance, scalability, maintainability, supportability, and long-term success.

Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partners with business stakeholders, product owners, operational teams, vendors, and technical teams to understand needs and define effective solutions.
  • Facilitates discovery sessions, solution workshops, and technical discussions to align stakeholders around business objectives and solution strategies.
  • Works across organizational boundaries to identify opportunities for automation, integration, process improvement, and technology enablement.
  • Supports integration efforts involving enterprise applications, third-party platforms, APIs, messaging systems, data platforms, and cloud services.
  • Collaborates with architecture, security, infrastructure, and engineering teams to ensure alignment across initiatives.
  • Communicates architectural decisions, technical recommendations, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of architecture standards, governance processes, development practices, and technology guidelines.
  • Evaluates technical risks and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency, application performance, maintainability, security, and developer productivity.
  • Supports technology roadmap planning and strategic architectural initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering software solutions in complex business environments.
  • 3+ years of experience serving in a technical leadership role, including architecture, solution design, technical lead, or principal engineering responsibilities.
  • Strong proficiency with .NET technologies and API design.
  • Experience with modern web technologies and frameworks, including JavaScript/TypeScript-based development.
  • Experience developing cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure services and platforms.
  • Knowledge of application architecture patterns, integration patterns, and software design principles.
  • Experience working with relational databases, data modeling, and data integration concepts.
  • Proven ability to move from ambiguous problem statements to actionable solutions through discovery, prototyping, and implementation.
