About the Job:
The Manager, Business Analytics & Reporting, is a hands-on analytics leader responsible for Pacsun’s enterprise business reporting, dashboards, KPI development, and actionable business insights. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics, the Manager leads a small reporting and analytics team and serves as a key bridge between business stakeholders and technology.
The Manager combines deep Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) expertise with strong retail business acumen, understanding how sales, inventory, cost, margin, and related measures work together to drive performance. The role is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the data presented in reports and dashboards, working with data engineering and the Snowflake data warehouse to keep reporting performant, consistent, and trusted. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader who actively learns, adopts, and integrates AI solutions into analytics.
A day in the life, what you’ll be doing:
Reporting and Analytics Delivery
- Own reporting delivery. Own day-to-day enterprise reporting and analytics delivery, with Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) as the primary platform. Lead the design, development, enhancement, and support of executive dashboards, operational reports, scorecards, and analytical solutions.
- Stay hands-on in Strategy. Remain hands-on in architecture and development, including metadata, schema objects, attributes, metrics, hierarchies, filters, reports, dossiers and dashboards, security, performance, and troubleshooting.
- Manage the platform lifecycle. Manage upgrades, release planning, testing, performance tuning, production support, documentation, and reporting standards.
- Deliver insight, not just reports. Translate business questions into meaningful KPIs and analytical views, and proactively surface trends, exceptions, risks, and opportunities in sales, margin, inventory, sell-through, and omnichannel performance.
Business Partnership and Leadership
- Partner with business leaders. Work directly with merchandising, planning, inventory, stores, eCommerce, finance, supply chain, marketing, and executive leadership to identify analytics opportunities and provide solutions. Serve as the escalation point to remove roadblocks and ensure timely delivery.
- Set the reporting roadmap. Drive the reporting and analytics roadmap, prioritizing development by business value, urgency, and enterprise priorities, and promote self-service analytics and data literacy through training for business users.
- Lead a small, hands-on team. Lead and develop a small team of MicroStrategy engineers and BI developers (2–4 people), and coordinate with external vendors, contract or offshore resources, IT leadership, data engineers, and architects.
Data Quality and Governance
- Own the integrity of reported data. Ensure consistent interpretation of enterprise KPIs and accurate, complete data in reports and dashboards. Establish validation and reconciliation checks against source systems and Snowflake, and work with data engineering to resolve source-data, model, and data-quality issues.
- Implement reporting governance. Establish BI governance, naming standards, certified datasets and metrics, security models, and service levels for report availability and performance.
AI and Innovation
- Adopt and integrate AI. Evaluate, pilot, and integrate AI capabilities into reporting and analytics, such as natural language query, AI-generated insights, anomaly detection, Snowflake AI features, and GenAI tools that improve development productivity. Validate the accuracy of AI-generated output and follow data security, privacy, and governance standards.
- Drive continuous improvement. Run proofs of concept to test emerging technologies and lead initiatives that improve report performance, usability, and cost efficiency.
