Federal Work Study Peer Mentor - NYC

The Peer Mentor will:

• Serve as a role model and positive influence for students
• Lead small groups of students
• Mentor students on succeeding in college
• Lead academic workshops
• Mentor students in a one-on-one setting
• Participate in staff training and staff meetings
• Assist with general duties and administrative tasks
• Respond to email requests in a timely manner

Requirements

• GPA of 3.5 or higher, with successful completion of ENG 110 & 120 and at least a A- in writing and/or writing-enhanced courses.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate and interact with people of all ages and backgrounds
• Ability to adjust approaches to different learning needs
• Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner
• Reliable and patient with visitors
• Federal Work Study through the university
