Join the OSMC Team! OSMC is dedicated to providing high-quality orthopedic care within a patient-centered, service-driven environment. Our team works collaboratively to ensure patients receive exceptional care, education, and support throughout their treatment journey. We are currently seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented DME Fitter to join our team! This position plays an important role in the daily operations of OSMC's Durable Medical Equipment (DME) program, supporting both OSMC and the OSMC Outpatient Surgery Center. The DME Fitter works directly with patients, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure patients receive the appropriate orthopedic devices, proper fitting, and education needed to safely use their equipment. If you enjoy working directly with patients, have strong organizational skills, and like a position that combines patient care with hands-on responsibilities, this may be a great opportunity for you!

As a DME Fitter, you will:

  • Work closely with physicians and clinical staff to fulfill DME orders and help identify appropriate products based on patient needs.
  • Assist physicians and staff with selecting orthopedic braces and devices that best meet patient needs.
  • Fit orthopedic braces and other DME products and make minor adjustments as needed to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Educate patients on the appropriate use and care of their orthopedic devices and products.
  • Answer patient questions and help resolve concerns related to previously dispensed equipment.
  • Provide basic postoperative exercise instruction and necessary equipment as directed.
  • Obtain required patient signatures, discuss product costs, and collect appropriate deposits and payments.
  • Coordinate with the Business Office regarding insurance preauthorization for commercial insurance and workers' compensation carriers.
  • Assist with introducing new products requested by physicians.
  • Maintain product information and supporting documentation for the DME product line.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels, order products, create purchase orders, and review inventory reports.
  • Receive shipments and properly stock and organize products.
  • Coordinate invoices, packing slips, and related documentation with the Accounting Department.
  • Work with product distributors and manufacturers regarding orders, products, and inventory needs.
  • Assist OSMC locations with inventory questions, product availability, order status, and product exchanges.
  • Provide product education and training to clinical staff and other healthcare team members.
  • Support compliance with applicable Medicare DMEPOS supplier requirements and other insurance carrier requirements.
  • Travel between OSMC locations as needed to assist with inventory, product needs, and staff training.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Assist with other duties and projects as needed.

The ideal candidate will be someone who:

  • Enjoys working directly with patients and providing excellent customer service.
  • Is comfortable learning how to properly fit and adjust orthopedic braces and equipment.
  • Has strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Is organized and detail-oriented.
  • Can manage inventory and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Is comfortable using computers and learning applicable DME and inventory systems.
  • Works well with physicians, clinical staff, patients, insurance representatives, and outside vendors.
  • Can manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Is willing and able to travel between OSMC locations as needed.
  • Understands the importance of patient confidentiality, documentation, and compliance.
  • Previous healthcare, orthopedic, DME, brace-fitting, medical office, or patient care experience is preferred.

Why Join OSMC? At OSMC, we believe exceptional patient care starts with an exceptional team. Our employees play an important part in helping patients recover, regain mobility, and return to the activities they enjoy. If you are looking for a temporary role where you can combine patient interaction, hands-on orthopedic care, organization, and teamwork, we would love to hear from you!
