Build Marine Projects Where the Work Actually Happens
Orion is hiring a Project Manager to lead marine construction projects across the Southeast and Caribbean. You’ll work alongside superintendents, foremen, and craft teams on ports, docks, bridges, causeways, and other waterfront infrastructure. You’ll manage the schedule and budget while staying close enough to the work to help crews solve problems as they come up.
As the link between the jobsite and the client, you’ll explain how field decisions affect the budget and schedule. That means working with the superintendent on what the crew can build safely, getting answers when plans and site conditions differ, and keeping the client informed when priorities shift.
Orion specializes in construction on, over, and under the water. Our teams are guided by Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, built on a foundation of Integrity. This role is based out of Tampa headquarters, with assignments driven by where our projects are underway.
What You’ll Do
• Partner with field leaders to plan and execute work, track production, and resolve field issues that affect safety, cost, or schedule.
• Build and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and change orders. Keep project records current and flag risks early.
• Review plans, specifications, scopes, and contract requirements. Support estimating and proposal development for upcoming work.
• Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, subcontractors, and outside services so crews have what they need when they need it.
• Keep clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal leadership informed on progress and decisions. Lead project closeout, final documentation, and lessons learned.
• Reinforce Orion’s safety expectations and stop work when unsafe conditions are observed or anticipated.
What You’ll Need
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant project management or construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of estimating, scheduling, procurement, cost control, project tracking, and change management.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, scopes, and contract documents.
• Clear communication with field teams, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100% and work the current project rotation.
• Ability to work safely on active construction sites and follow site safety requirements.
Strongly preferred experience includes marine, heavy civil, or heavy industrial construction. Relevant work includes ports, bridges, docks, dredging support, pile-supported structures, and other waterfront infrastructure. Experience coordinating field crews and subcontractors around barges, cranes, and marine equipment is also valuable.
Jobsite Requirements
You must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. Site work includes wearing required PPE, safely accessing docks, barges, boats, vessels, and waterfront structures, and responding appropriately in emergencies. The role may involve walking, climbing, standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, sitting for extended periods, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Expect outdoor work in heat, changing weather, and varying temperatures.
Compensation and Benefits
Orion offers a competitive salary based on experience, a bonus opportunity, per diem for eligible project assignments, and relocation assistance where applicable.
• Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus an Employee Assistance Program.
• Company-paid life and AD&D insurance and short-term and long-term disability coverage.
• Fidelity 401(k) with Safe Harbor Match and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
• Paid time off, nine paid public holidays, and volunteer time off.
• Tuition reimbursement, an employee referral program, employee discounts, and wellness programs.
Benefits, bonus eligibility, per diem, relocation, and other programs are subject to applicable plan documents, company policies, project assignment, and eligibility requirements.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Orion is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, including pregnancy, gender identity and sexual orientation, age, national origin, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other category protected by law.
