Orion delivers game-changing business transformation and product development rooted in digital strategy, experience design, and engineering, with a unique combination of agility, scale, and maturity. We work with a wide range of clients across many industries including financial services, professional services, telecommunications and media, consumer products, automotive, industrial automation, professional sports and entertainment, life sciences, ecommerce, and education.

Experience: 8–10 years

Work Location: Client location / Onsite

Engagement: Dedicated enterprise AI and Microsoft cloud transformation program

Role Type: Hands-on technical leadership and software engineering

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on PoD Lead to lead a team of developers building enterprise AI solutions within the Microsoft 365 E7 ecosystem. The role combines technical leadership, solution implementation, code development, design reviews, and team mentoring.

The PoD Lead will work closely with solution architects, client stakeholders, and other engineering teams to translate architecture and business requirements into secure, scalable, production-ready AI agents and integrations using Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, and Azure services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of developers responsible for implementing enterprise AI agents, integrations, and supporting services.
  • Translate solution architecture and technical requirements into implementation designs, development tasks, and engineering standards.
  • Remain hands-on with coding, configuration, prototyping, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Guide the development of agents and workflows using Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI services, and related Microsoft technologies, according to the selected architecture.
  • Design and review integrations with enterprise APIs, business applications, data sources, and knowledge repositories.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, reusable components, secure development practices, code reviews, and automated testing.
  • Guide implementation of authentication, authorization, tool permissions, knowledge access, error handling, and appropriate guardrails.
  • Ensure agents meet functional, performance, quality, security, and governance requirements before deployment.
  • Collaborate with architects, governance specialists, IT operations, and client technical teams to resolve dependencies and technical challenges.
  • Support CI/CD, environment configuration, deployment readiness, production troubleshooting, and operational handover.
  • Mentor developers, conduct technical knowledge-sharing sessions, and build engineering capability within the pod.
  • Contribute reusable agent patterns, integration components, reference implementations, and technical documentation.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • 8–10 years of experience in software development, cloud engineering, or enterprise application delivery, including hands-on technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a development team while remaining actively involved in engineering and implementation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C#, with experience building APIs, backend services, and enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure services, cloud application architecture, identity, security, and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, authentication and authorization, error handling, and integration patterns.
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented design, code quality, unit testing, and secure coding.
  • Experience with source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and development lifecycle management.
  • Ability to interpret architecture designs, make sound implementation decisions, and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Strong technical communication, mentoring, and collaboration skills in a client-facing delivery environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience building Microsoft Copilot Studio agents, topics, actions, connectors, and workflows.
  • Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent orchestration.
  • Familiarity with Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent development frameworks, where relevant to the selected architecture.
  • Experience implementing tool calling, conversation context, structured outputs, human approval workflows, and agent evaluation.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, prompt injection risks, guardrails, grounding, and Responsible AI practices.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender, and enterprise governance requirements.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and application observability.
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure, AI, or developer certifications.

Expected Outcomes

  • Delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and secure agent implementations and supporting integrations.
  • Consistent engineering standards, effective code reviews, and strong test coverage.
  • Timely resolution of technical blockers and sound implementation decisions.
  • Improved developer productivity through mentoring, reusable components, and shared engineering patterns.
  • Successful integration of governance and security requirements into the development lifecycle.
  • Production-ready solutions with complete technical documentation and operational handover.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who has progressed into technical leadership without losing hands-on development skills. They should be comfortable designing solutions, writing and reviewing code, mentoring developers, troubleshooting complex problems, and working directly with client architects and technical stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions.
