Original job description

Shaping the Future of Lending

With 30 years of fintech leadership, Origence empowers credit unions with innovative SaaS lending solutions that make lending more accessible, efficient, and competitive. We invest in our people and foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement. As we help shape the future of lending, we're leveraging AI to enhance the way we work and create value for our clients, and we're seeking individuals who are excited by emerging technologies and eager to use them responsibly to solve problems and drive impact.

The Sr. Software Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of new software applications and the maintenance and enhancement of Origence's various software products and solutions. They assist in the successful execution of projects with minimal direction and guidance and serve as senior technical contributors and mentors within the team.

The Origence Mindset

At Origence, we are self-aware, adaptable, and relentlessly focused on creating meaningful impact. We think like owners, embrace complexity and ambiguity, challenge conventional thinking, and continuously pursue smarter, more effective ways to solve problems and advance the business. If this mindset reflects who you are, you may be exactly who we're looking for.

How You'll Contribute:

Spend approximately 90% of your time actively designing and coding in support of the immediate team, and 10% researching new technology, coaching, and mentoring other engineers.
Incorporate agentic AI development practices into day-to-day engineering - using tools such as Claude Code CLI to accelerate design, implementation, code review, testing, and refactoring - while upholding code quality, security, and governance standards and validating all AI-assisted output.
As a senior member of the development team, provide feedback and training where necessary and ensure that technical initiatives align with organizational goals, working closely with Principal Engineers and Development Managers.
As a full-stack engineer assigned to the product/project, ensure performance, maintainability, and functional requirements are met by design and development through testing, rollout, and support.
Collaborate with cross-engineering staff on hardware and system monitoring requirements to ensure the expected performance and reliability of the application/system developed.
Proactively communicate and work to mitigate changes to project timelines and degradation in application performance and troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience

A minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience, ideally in business process automation or financial services applications.
A minimum of 5 years' experience with .NET, C#, and Windows tools and languages, as well as modern web frameworks (Angular via TypeScript, React, or Vue).
Solid understanding of data repository models is required; experience with both SQL (Microsoft SQL Server) and NoSQL is preferred.
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, Domain-Driven Design, Test/Behavior-Driven Design, event-driven design via asynchronous messaging, and microservice architecture.
Preferred experience: ASP.NET, WCF, Web Services, NServiceBus, Azure Cloud, and Infrastructure Code (IaC).
DevOps experience as a full-stack developer owning the full software development lifecycle.
Hands-on experience with agentic AI development workflows and AI-assisted coding tools - specifically Claude Code CLI (or comparable agentic CLI tooling) applied to real development tasks within a governed SDLC
Strong track record of writing unit and integration tests for all code produced.

Your Strengths & Expertise

Can effectively lead and participate in technical initiatives and collaborative design/requirements meetings while gathering the necessary information for software development.
Ownership and accountability mindset, with decision-making, communication, and analytical skills that enable strong partnership with Product Owners and cross-functional teams.
Leadership qualities and an excellent team player with the ability to handle stressful situations.
Expertise in, or curiosity to learn, their chosen technology stacks, along with broader knowledge of various programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
Brings experience and understanding of the application domain, enabling insightful decisions and innovative problem-solving.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment that practices a SAFe / Agile-based SDLC.
Leads by example, practices high standards for behavior and performance, models the values and principles of the organization, and inspires others.
Experience with event-driven design and microservice architecture best practices.
Skilled at integrating agentic AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code CLI) into the development lifecycle, with sound judgment about when to apply AI assistance and how to review, test, and secure AI-generated code.
Possesses a strong sense of interpersonal awareness, a bias for action, the ability to build trust, deep technical skill, and sound judgment.

Bring your ideas, your curiosity, and your unique perspective. We'll provide the opportunities, tools, and support to help you succeed.

How We Invest in You:

401(k) with 8% Company Match
Flexible Work Environment
Competitive Paid Time Off
Tuition Reimbursement & Education Benefits
Comprehensive Health & Wellness Benefits
Microsoft Copilot and AI-Enabled Tools
Continuous Learning & Development Opportunities
A culture of connection, celebration, and growth through employee-driven programs, company events, holiday celebrations (Star Wars Day), monthly town halls, quarterly company meetings, and team traditions like Bring Your Kid to Work Day
