Job Description

At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we are building the next generation of cloud services for autonomous and intelligent robotics. The OCI Robotics Cloud team is developing a secure, scalable, cloud-native robotics platform that enables customers to onboard, manage, monitor, and operate heterogeneous robot fleets across industries.

Our platform provides cloud services for robot registration and identity, fleet and mission management, telemetry and observability, digital twins, simulation, software lifecycle management, and AI-powered robotic applications.

A key focus of the team is an AI-assisted, spec-driven robot onboarding platform designed to simplify how robots from different vendors connect to cloud services. Through standardized service contracts, edge specifications, reusable adapters, SDKs, and AI-assisted developer tools, we are turning robot integration into a repeatable software engineering workflow.

We are also developing capabilities that connect robot simulation, operational data, AI models, and continuous learning, enabling developers to build, evaluate, deploy, and improve intelligent robotic applications using both simulated and real-world environments.

Our vision is to make robot onboarding as simple and repeatable as cloud onboarding while building the cloud foundation for increasingly intelligent robotic systems.

As a Senior Platform Software Engineer, you will own the design and implementation of production cloud services and robotics platform components. You will translate product and technical requirements into high-quality software and work closely with engineers across cloud infrastructure, AI, and robotics to deliver capabilities from design through production.

If you enjoy building distributed systems and want to apply those skills to AI-native intelligent robotics, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and implementation of production Robotics Cloud services and platform components.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and operate cloud-native services supporting robot onboarding and identity, fleet management, mission orchestration, telemetry, digital twins, simulation, and software lifecycle management.
  • Build scalable backend services and APIs using modern distributed systems and microservice architectures.
  • Develop secure APIs, SDKs, service contracts, and edge integration components for heterogeneous robots.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted, spec-driven robot onboarding, including integration specifications, adapters, SDK generation, validation, and developer workflows.
  • Build integrations with robotics frameworks, simulation environments, autonomous systems, AI models, and edge devices.
  • Develop components that connect simulation, robot telemetry, AI evaluation, and deployment workflows.
  • Contribute to platform capabilities supporting VLM/VLA, multimodal, embodied AI, and agentic robotics applications.
  • Improve service reliability, scalability, observability, security, and performance.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested production code.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, debugging, testing, and production operations.
  • Collaborate with engineers across robotics, AI, cloud infrastructure, security, and product teams.
  • Use an AI-native engineering process throughout design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation to accelerate development and rapid iteration while maintaining high engineering quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience building backend services, distributed systems, cloud platforms, robotics software, or related production systems.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.
  • Experience developing APIs, backend services, or distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and container orchestration.
  • Experience developing reliable, maintainable, and well-tested production software.
  • Ability to own the design and implementation of meaningful software components.
  • Strong software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science, Robotics, AI/ML, or a related field.
  • Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS 2.
  • Familiarity with robotics and industrial communication technologies such as DDS, MQTT, OPC UA, VDA5050, or similar protocols.
  • Experience with robot simulation environments such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Gazebo, Webots, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using simulation or synthetic data for robot development, testing, validation, evaluation, or learning.
  • Exposure to vision-language models (VLMs), vision-language-action (VLA) models, multimodal foundation models, embodied AI, or agentic robotics systems.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML approaches for robot perception, planning, navigation, manipulation, task understanding, or control.
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning, imitation learning, continual learning, online adaptation, or sim-to-real workflows.
  • Experience integrating robots, autonomous systems, IoT devices, or edge systems with cloud services.
  • Understanding of robot navigation, localization, perception, teleoperation, mission execution, fleet management, or digital twins.
  • Familiarity with secure robot/device identity, edge computing, OTA software deployment, workload identity, or zero-trust architectures.
  • Experience developing APIs, SDKs, adapters, plugins, or developer tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and rapidly apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted software engineering tools and workflows.

Why Join Us

OCI Robotics Cloud is building the cloud and developer platform for heterogeneous intelligent robot fleets, rather than focusing on a single robot or robotics application.

You will work on production engineering problems connecting cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, edge computing, simulation, AI, and robotics. You’ll have the opportunity to work with emerging technologies such as VLMs, VLAs, embodied AI, and continuous-learning systems while building the infrastructure required to operate them at enterprise scale.

You’ll also work in an AI-native engineering environment, using emerging AI tools and development workflows to move rapidly from ideas and specifications to production-quality software.
