Original job description

Job Description

The Construction Superintendent is the senior field leader for Optimum Energy on the T1 project in Rockdale, Texas. This role reports to the Construction Project Manager and runs major construction scopes independently, leads field operations, manages risk, and serves as the primary field representative to the owner, design team, and project partners. The Superintendent owns site safety, sequencing, quality, productivity, and closeout, and works with the Construction Project Manager on cost, change control, and schedule.

The role also owns site stores management. On a greenfield industrial site, materials, owner-furnished equipment, tools, and consumables must be received, protected, tracked, and issued on time, or crews stall. The Superintendent sets up and runs that system so field work never waits on material.

This role offers a clear career path to Senior Construction Superintendent and Construction Project Manager.

About the T1 Project

T1 Energy's G2_Austin is a new solar cell manufacturing plant on more than 100 acres in Milam County near Rockdale, Texas. T1 announced the start of construction on December 17, 2025.

Owner: T1 Energy (NYSE: TE), through T1 G2 Austin Solar Cell LLC
Facility: Advanced TOPCon solar cell fab
Phase One Capacity: 1 GW per year
Phase One Investment: $400 million to $425 million
Future Expansion: Possible second phase of about 3.2 GW, tied to demand
Design Firm: OE and SSOE Group
Registered Completion Date: May 31, 2027
Jobs: Up to 1,800 manufacturing jobs expected

Cells made at G2_Austin will feed T1's 5 GW G1_Dallas module plant. For a superintendent, that means a fast-track greenfield fab with long-lead process equipment, cleanliness requirements, and heavy material flow.

Optimum Energy's scope on the project covers the Central Utility Building and the Water Management Program facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Direct all field operations for one or more complex projects
Manage field staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform crews
Build and maintain construction schedules
Plan project sequencing and workflow across trades
Deliver work that meets schedule, quality, safety, and profit goals
Safety Leadership: Lead and enforce a strong safety culture; heavy emphasis on OE safety program implementation for all employees and subcontractors
Investigate incidents and put corrective actions in place
Keep the site compliant with OE safety programs, OSHA, and owner requirements
Coach crews and subcontractors on safe work practices
Schedule and Cost Control: Keep field production on plan and on budget
Manage and update project schedules
Coordinate changes and change orders with the Construction Project Manager
Track productivity, labor hours, and job costs
Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions early
Quality Management: Hold all work to project specifications
Oversee QA/QC processes and documentation
Run inspections, punch lists, mechanical completion, and closeout activities
Coordinate reviews with the owner, architect, engineer, and authorities having jurisdiction
Stores Management: Own site stores, including warehouses, laydown yards, tool cribs, and consumables
Set up receiving, inspection, tagging, and issue procedures for all materials and equipment
Keep inventory accurate through cycle counts, barcode or RFID tracking, and regular reconciliation
Store sensitive and owner-furnished equipment to manufacturer and owner requirements, including climate control, cleanliness, and preservation
Track long-lead items and deliveries against the schedule so crews have material before work starts
Work with procurement and the Construction Project Manager on buyouts, expediting, shortages, and returns
Control loss, damage, and waste, and report on stores performance and inventory value
Supervise and train stores personnel and adjust staffing as the project scales
Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary field representative to the owner and project partners
Lead daily standups, trade coordination meetings, and owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings
Build client relationships and help secure future work
Take part in project pursuits, buyouts, negotiations, and executive reviews
Recruit, mentor, and develop field and stores staff

Maintain the overall field schedule using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar
Lean Construction principles, including Last Planner System and pull planning
Productivity tracking and contract administration
Inventory control, material receiving, and warehouse practices
Leads multiple teams and resolves conflict on site
Identifies risk early and puts mitigation in place
Clear communicator and confident presenter with owners and executives
Proficient in Procore, Microsoft Office, project accounting systems, and materials tracking platforms

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Experience: 10+ years of construction experience, including 8+ years of field supervision; mega-project, semiconductor, or industrial experience preferred
Technical Knowledge: Lead Construction experience on greenfield projects preferred; hands-on experience running site materials or stores operations on large projects

Optimum Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.

About the Company

Optimum Energy, a Bernhard Capital Partners portfolio company, has spent 20 years helping hospitals, universities, government facilities, and advanced manufacturing operations reduce energy consumption in heating and cooling systems by up to 50% and turn that infrastructure into a strategic financial and operational asset. With 300+ plants and institutions served globally, nobody understands energy infrastructure, efficiency, and financial opportunity quite like Optimum Energy.

Our Energy-as-a-Service model converts aging central utility plants into upfront unrestricted cash, cuts utility operating expenses 25 to 35%, and keeps the transaction entirely off the balance sheet. The structure has been confirmed by Big Four auditors and cited by rating agencies as a driver of improved credit outlooks.

We work with clients from master planning and design through implementation, commissioning, and into long-term operations and maintenance. How we show up depends on what the client needs. That could mean fully managed plants with Optimum carrying total accountability for performance and uptime. It could mean supplementing an existing facilities team with engineering support, analytics, training, and escalation resources. Or it could mean a tailored combination of both. In every engagement, we stay for the life of the agreement.

Proprietary technology, including OptiCx and OptimumLOOP, powers everything we do. It is not what we sell. It is what enables us to deliver the most continuous, precise system-level optimization across chilled water, hot water, and steam plants available in the market today. Machine learning algorithms trained on two decades of operational data adapt to load, weather, and occupancy in real time. AI-driven predictive maintenance and fault detection catch equipment degradation before it becomes a problem. We guarantee the performance. We carry the risk.

Behind the technology is a team built on a simple set of principles: be sharp, be relentless, and be accountable for outcomes. Our people are engineers, operators, and financial structurers who would rather solve the hard problem than talk around it. Every engagement gets that same intensity, whether the scope is a single plant or a 26-site enterprise portfolio. For more information, visit www.optimumenergyco.com.

About the Industry Commercial and institutional HVAC infrastructure is aging faster than organizations can replace it. Hospitals are running central plants built in the 1960s and 70s. Universities carry over $112 billion in collective deferred maintenance nationally. Advanced manufacturing operations face intensifying energy demand from reshoring and facility expansion. Rising energy costs, tightening regulations, sustainability mandates, and a skilled trades labor gap that shows no sign of closing all compound the pressure.

Connected systems are generating more data than most organizations can act on. The capacity to analyze it and translate it into operational decisions requires platforms and people most facilities teams do not have. The industry is not short on ambition or technology. It is short on the capital structures, operational models, and workforce capacity to turn intent into sustained results.

Why Optimum Energy? With 300+ sites and over 300M square feet of operational data, our machine learning algorithms

continuously optimize in real time. No competitor replicates this at scale.

We do not sell software, and we do not sell equipment. We deliver guaranteed outcomes through the convergence of deep engineering expertise, proprietary optimization technology, and financial

structures that align our interests directly with those of our clients. That means tailoring solutions to unique financial and operational realities, not forcing a one-size-fits-all model. It means verifiable success across facility design, ongoing operations, and complex deal structuring. And it means protecting client investments by optimizing the 70% of total costs that occur after day one.

Our EaaS contracts transfer construction, performance, and lifecycle risk entirely. No upfront capital. No balance sheet impact. Capital that would have gone to back-of-house infrastructure stays available for the priorities that matter most, whether that is clinical growth, enrollment expansion, or production capacity.

No other firm brings this combination of engineering, technology, operations, and financial structuring under a single partnership.
