About Peregrine Peregrine Advisors is a rapidly growing AI and data innovation hub helping government solve hard problems and deliver better outcomes. We work across the full lifecycle - from strategy and governance through architecture, engineering, analytics, AI, visualization, and training - for clients including the SEC, PCAOB, DDOT, and DCAA. Our clients describe our support as “absolutely excellent” and our people as “instrumental to organization’s success.” Winner of the United Nations COP27 Datathon, our work has earned all Exceptional CPARS ratings, SEC Chair’s Awards, the SEC Vision Award, and recognition from FDA leadership. We are also built differently. Peregrine is the first and only social enterprise organized as a Benefit Corporation and SBA 8(a) company focused on AI and data for government. We believe business success should create client value, social value, and opportunity for our people. As we enter our next stage of growth, we need dependable, motivated, and skilled people who have a combination of intellectual curiosity and intellectual courage. With new clients, larger programs, and expanding responsibilities, the people joining Peregrine now will have the opportunity to help shape the company we become. People first. Ownership always. We solve problems through people, process, and technology - in that order. Technology matters, but people make transformation happen. That principle defines our culture. Trust and motivation are the foundational pillars of delivery on which our skills stand. We hire people we can trust, who care deeply about what they do, take ownership, learn quickly, help one another, and refuse to walk past a problem because it belongs to someone else. At Peregrine, you are not joining simply to fill a position. You are joining a team, taking ownership of a mission, and helping build a company. If that excites you, we should talk. Your work at Peregrine Advisors will cover both development and support for cloud-native Python services running on Amazon Web Services (AWS). But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are. This is a hybrid work arrangement based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and the commuting cadence varies by assignment. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination. Your first project On your first project, you will likely see user stories through every stage, from refinement to production. Depending on the assignment, you may:
- Turn user stories into back-end features written in Python on a cloud-native AWS stack.
- Create the React.js screens and components through which users reach those features.
- Connect internal systems to commercial products by creating the integrations and application programming interfaces (APIs) between them.
- Rely on Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), AWS Lambda, and related AWS services to automate workflows.
- Contribute to automating the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, produce secure, accessible code, and provide production support for your services.
- Write tests at both the unit and integration levels, take part in code reviews, and fix the defects you uncover as you carry the work through to production.
- Support quality development practices, with test-driven development and automated testing among them.
- Make AI-assisted development tools part of your daily routine, reviewing and testing all of their output.
You take responsibility for delivering tested, working code, carrying it through production and finding and fixing its defects. Your automation replaces the spreadsheet workflows, manual checks, and validations in business operations, and you create deployment pipelines that make service releases routine. This is where you start, not the shape of your career here.

- 4+ years of professional hands-on software development experience, with back-end work in Python and front-end work in React.js
- Bachelor's degree
- Familiarity with development in the AWS cloud and with services including Amazon S3 and AWS Lambda
- Skill in applying data modeling, design patterns, and object-oriented design to turn a defined specification into tested code that works, then owning that code through production
- A background working with relational database systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
- A background using NoSQL databases, for example DynamoDB or MongoDB
- Sound analytical judgment, applied through strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- A history of Agile delivery, whether Scrum, Kanban, or similar, with work tracked in Jira or a comparable tool
- The ability to communicate exceptionally well, collaborate directly with non-technical stakeholders at the client, and translate requirements from the business into technical solutions

Preferred
- Familiarity with the practices used in DevSecOps and with CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience delivering production workloads in AWS, or certification in Python or AWS
- Experience providing consulting services while interacting with clients
- Prior work in information technology for the federal government
- Familiarity with tools that use AI to help developers
Who you are You care about your work and assess it by how well it serves those who depend on it. You adapt when priorities change and develop enough depth in new tools or domains to make your own judgments instead of relying on instructions. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task. What you bring
- Hands-on fluency in modern cloud development, with the breadth to improve a system already in place or to create something new.
- Delivery habits that cover secure coding, accessibility, code review, unit and integration testing, and version control.
- Plain, clear communication with everyone who relies on your work, and an ear for what they actually need.
- A meticulous streak wherever accuracy and auditability cannot be compromised.
You adapt your development workflow as AI tools evolve, using them to help implement, test, and improve the components you own. You give the tools clear context, review and test their output, and remain accountable for the code you deliver. When we talk Be prepared to discuss a difficult problem you worked through, the decisions you made, what happened, and what you learned.
