What This Role Delivers
Every customer interaction is an opportunity to make someone's day a little easier.
At Omaha Public Power District (OPPD), providing safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible energy is at the heart of what we do. But behind every electric service connection, billing question, and outage concern is a customer who needs answers, guidance, or a helping hand.
That's where you come in.
As a Customer Care Representative, you'll be one of the voices and faces of OPPD, helping residential and business customers navigate their electric service needs. Whether someone is moving into a new home, has a question about their bill, needs help understanding payment options, or is looking for information during an outage, you'll help provide the answers and support they're looking for.
We're looking for people who enjoy helping others, communicate clearly, and can balance accuracy with genuine customer care. You'll be part of a team that makes a difference in our community every single day.
What This Role Will Lead & Own
- Be a trusted resource for customers. Respond to questions about electric service through phone, in-person, email, and other approved communication channels, providing clear, accurate, and helpful information.
- Help customers manage their electric service. Process service starts, stops, transfers, payments, payment arrangements, billing adjustments, outage requests, and other authorized transactions while following established procedures.
- Turn questions into solutions. Assist customers with questions involving energy usage, billing and rates, outages and service restoration, account security, payment options, self-service tools, and OPPD products and services.
- Keep customer information accurate. Use Customer Care systems to maintain complete and accurate customer records, including billing information, contact details, and service-related updates.
- Deliver consistent, dependable service. Follow department procedures and applicable requirements while helping ensure every customer interaction reflects OPPD¿s commitment to reliable service and excellent customer care.
What You Will Bring
- Demonstrated ability to successfully complete essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
What Will Help You Stand Out
We know great customer service experience can come from many different backgrounds. Here are a few things that could help you succeed:
- Experience in customer service, call centers, retail, hospitality, banking, or other customer-facing environments.
- Strong communication and listening skills, especially when helping customers work through questions or challenging situations.
- Comfort navigating computer systems, entering information accurately, and learning new technology.
- Experience handling billing questions, payments, account information, or service-related transactions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while staying organized, professional, and focused on the customer.
- A genuine interest in helping people and contributing to a team that serves our community.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a bonus! The ability to assist Spanish-speaking customers is an added benefit, but is not required for this position.
