The Center for Healthful Behavior Change (CHBC), within the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity (IEHE), is seeking a Research Data Associate (RDA) to support our NIH-funded community-based research focused on improving cardiovascular health through partnerships with barbershops and other community stakeholders. The RDA will support the implementation of the Community-to-Clinic Implementation Program to Control Hypertension in Barbershops (CLIP-HTN). The candidate will work closely with study investigators, research staff, barbershop owners and barbers, community partners, and study teams. The candidate will assist with organizing community engagement, participant outreach and recruitment, retention activities, field operations, study implementation, communications, and day-to-day program activities. Under supervision, the RDA will support the day-to-day execution of CLIP-HTN research activities and assist data collection and management, participant tracking, regulatory documentation, community-based field activities, and maintenance of research records. The candidate will play a key role in supporting the implementation of study procedures across participating barbershops and ensuring that research data and study documentation are complete, accurate, timely, and maintained in accordance with the approved protocol, institutional requirements, and study procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with day-to-day implementation of the CLIP-HTN research protocol under the direction of the Research Program Manager and in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Research Scientist, and study team.
• Prepare study materials, research forms, supplies, and documentation to support study startup, participant visits, and ongoing research activities.
• Support participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, informed consent, scheduling, retention, and follow-up in accordance with assigned responsibilities, approved protocols, and required training.
• Collect and document blood pressure measurements and administer study questionnaires and assessments using established study procedures.
• Enter and maintain study data in REDCap and other approved tracking systems. Review data for completeness and accuracy and assist the study team with resolving missing information and discrepancies.
• Maintain participant tracking logs, screening and enrollment records, site documentation, and organized electronic and paper research files.
• Assist with research activities at participating barbershops, including preparing materials and equipment and coordinating participant activities with Community Health Workers and community partners.
• Support qualitative interviews and stakeholder meetings through scheduling, materials preparation, and documentation. Assist with recording implementation activities, barriers, facilitators, and fidelity measures.
• Assist with preparing and maintaining IRB materials, approved consent documents, and other regulatory records under the direction of the Research Program Manager.
• Assist with preparing study progress reports, recruitment and enrollment updates, data summaries, and presentation materials.
• Participate in study team meetings and required training, provide updates on assigned tasks, and promptly communicate participant, site, data, or operational concerns.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Experience or demonstrated interest in clinical, public health, community-based, or health-equity research. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse participants, community partners, and study teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn research databases. Willingness to work in community settings and travel locally to study sites.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with human-subjects research, participant recruitment, informed consent, data collection, and follow-up. Familiarity with REDCap, data-quality review, IRB submissions, and study documentation. Experience in community-engaged, implementation, health-equity, hypertension, or chronic disease research. Experience with blood pressure measurement, qualitative research, or preparation of research reports and presentations.
