Original job description

Are you passionate about building real-world integrations that power high-impact cybersecurity workflows? Do you thrive at the intersection of APIs, data transformation, and platform reliability? Has this year transformed your day-to-day workflow with AI? Nucleus Security is seeking an AI-focused, experienced Software Engineer to join our Integrations team and help expand our ecosystem of data integrations with the world’s leading security tools.

This role is ideal for a technically strong PHP developer with a solid background in APIs, leadership-level experience in engineering environments, and a passion for building clean, scalable, and maintainable integration code. About Nucleus Security Nucleus Security is transforming how security and development teams manage vulnerabilities at scale. Our platform unifies vulnerability data across scanners and environments, enabling organizations to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities efficiently. Through our integrations, we empower customers to take this to where it matters most, from ticketing software to bulk exports.

As our ecosystem continues to expand, the integrations team plays a critical role in scaling our platform’s reach and value.

Role Overview As a Senior Agentic Engineer and the team lead for the Ticketing team, you’ll be a core contributor to our ticketing infrastructure. You’ll lead the technical implementation and development to enhance our ticketing integrations, reporting infrastructure, and data trends.

You’ll work closely with engineering leadership, product management, and QA to ensure all code is performant, scalable, and easy to support. You’ll also contribute to internal standards and tooling that improve how we test, release, and maintain integrations over time.

This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong leadership expectation - you’ll be trusted to lead major efforts, define best practices, and mentor others on the team. What You’ll Do

Work with your team and AI agents to develop and maintain integrations for exporting vulnerability and asset data to major ticketing and storage platforms (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, S3 buckets, and more).
Build Agentic tooling and automation to support development, testing, validation, and CI/CD deployment.
Work directly with external REST APIs and webhooks to send, extract, normalize, and transform data into platform-ready formats.
Manage the full lifecycle of nucleus vulnerabilities through external ticketing systems, synchronizing updates and changes from both systems.
Lead the architecture and design of the new connectors and contribute to improving our internal connector framework.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, QA, support, and platform engineering to ensure integrations are stable, scalable, and supportable.
Build tooling and automation to support connector testing, validation, and CI/CD deployment.
Maintain best practices for versioning, release cadence, and backwards compatibility.
Support QA and customer support teams in diagnosing and resolving connector-related issues.
Take ownership of reliability and observability in connector infrastructure (logging, metrics, error handling, etc.).

What We’re Looking For:

Required Experience

5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
2+ years of technical leadership experience.
1+ years of agentic software experience.
Strong experience with PHP including modern PHP practices, Composer, PSR standards.
Deep understanding of working with REST APIs - authentication, pagination, rate-limiting, data normalization, token refreshing, etc
Experience writing testable code, creating unit/integration tests, and mocking external APIs to validate workflows in a testing environment.
Proven ability to lead technical efforts or projects from design through release.
Experience with version control systems (preferably Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
Comfortable working in Linux-based environments.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with external systems and APIs.

Preferred Experience

Master's degree in computer science, cyber security, computer engineering or similar.
Experience presenting technical topics and mentoring Software Engineers
Experience with the Zend Framework ecosystem, especially Laminas Framework.
Experience working with security tools such as Tenable, Wiz, Qualys, or Rapid7.
Experience working with ticketing solutions such as ServiceNow, Jira, etc
Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker.
Experience working with relational databases (SingleStore/MEMSQL a bonus)
Experience with ExtJS or React.
Background following Agile/Scrum methodologies in a professional setting
Experience maintaining applications on Linux platforms in cloud environments

Why Nucleus?

Nucleus is a truly unique solution that’s defining a market AND making an actual impact.
We’re biased, but you will get to work with one of the best teams in security. We have a lot to get done and we work extremely hard, but we have fun in the process.
Work with a high-performing team that values creativity, autonomy, and innovation.
Collaborate on meaningful products that improve the security posture of major organizations.
Enjoy flexible remote work arrangements and a strong emphasis on work-life balance.

Additional Information At Nucleus we are committed to achieving excellence in our field by combining diversity, collaboration, teamwork, and pride in our work. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.
