Original job description

As a Business Intelligence Developer on our solutions delivery team, you will have the unique opportunity to work on innovative projects advancing the digital transformation of critical government systems with true mission impact.

Mission Focus: Our delivery teams are driven to explore new ideas and technology, and care deeply about collaboration, feedback, and iteration. We follow lean agile practices, embrace the Ops (DataOps/DevSecOps/MLOps) to “automate-first”, use modern tech stacks, and constantly challenge each other to grow and improve.

Technical members of our solutions teams require little guidance, but love to learn, collaborate, and problem solve. This position requires experience and passion for solving our customers’ hardest technical and data challenges.

Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph

Location/Flexibility: Hybrid. Onsite in Vienna, VA and Chantilly, VA with up to 3 days remote. Remote flexibility subject to change based on program needs.

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining reports and dashboards that transform complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders and decision-makers. The ideal candidate brings practical experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Grafana), combined with foundational knowledge in data manipulation, database connectivity, and AWS cloud infrastructure. The Business Intelligence Developer works collaboratively with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate analytics objectives and business requirements into clear, easily digestible reporting mechanisms that drive informed decision-making and support mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, and other visualization tools
Connect to and extract data from various databases within AWS cloud infrastructure (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, RDS)
Perform data manipulation, transformation, and preparation to ensure data quality and accuracy for reporting purposes
Translate business requests and data analytics objectives into demonstrable, user-friendly reporting mechanisms
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and define key performance indicators (KPIs)
Develop and maintain data models, queries, and ETL processes to support dashboard and reporting requirements
Ensure reports and dashboards are optimized for performance, usability, and accessibility
Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business decision-making
Document reporting processes, data sources, and dashboard functionality for knowledge sharing and maintenance
Provide training and support to end-users on dashboard navigation and data interpretation
Monitor and troubleshoot data quality issues, working with technical teams to resolve discrepancies
Participate in agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver analytics solutions

Basic Qualifications:

3+ years of experience with designing, building, and maintaining data analytics reports for business intelligence and real-time system infrastructure monitoring (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, Splunk, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (additional experience may be substituted for education)
Experience working with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.) to include:
Basic understanding of relational database design principles (e.g. Normalization vs Denormalization)
General knowledge of database administration concepts (e.g. users, schemas, constraints)
Basic query development experience
Experience working with data from Excel, Jira, ServiceNow, etc.
Experience leveraging programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.
Experience leveraging Generative AI tools
Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports
1+ year experience writing code leveraging programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.
