Original job description

About Nscale

Nscale is a vertically integrated AI cloud: we secure the power and land, design and build the data centers, run the GPU fleet, and provide the software that customers train and serve models on. Headquartered in London, we operate in 14 regions and serve hyperscalers, frontier AI labs and enterprises.

We sell through two lines. Nscale Infrastructure delivers large-scale dedicated AI compute to the world's biggest technology companies. Nscale Cloud gives customers the full AI lifecycle, from training to inference, under one contract. Our pipeline includes the Monarch Compute Campus in West Virginia, and the planned acquisition of Anyscale, the team behind Ray, adds workload orchestration to the platform.

Our customers choose us for delivery certainty. This role exists to protect that promise.

The role

As Senior Construction Manager, you lead the on-site build of Nscale's AI data centers, from mobilization through construction, commissioning and handover to operations. You are Nscale's presence on site, accountable for safety, quality, schedule and cost.

Our campuses are high-density, liquid-cooled facilities built to house tens of thousands of GPUs, often on accelerated programs in remote, power-rich locations. You direct general contractors, MEP trade partners and equipment vendors so that each data hall is ready, energized and commissioned on the date our customers have contracted.

What you'll do

Provide senior-level oversight of the overall construction program on behalf of Nscale, directly supervising the General Construction Manager(s), Preconstruction Manager, Construction Scheduler, Cost Manager, and EHS Manager
Serve as the primary escalation point for schedule, cost, quality, and safety issues that exceed site-level authority
Own the master program schedule and budget; report program status, risk, and financial performance directly to the Director and executive stakeholders
Review and approve significant change orders, claims, and contract modifications prior to Nscale sign-off
Chair OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings and represent Nscale in key negotiations with General Contractors, design teams, and vendors
Mentor and develop direct reports; establish and enforce consistent reporting standards, documentation practices, and quality expectations across all sites
Preserve the independence of the program controls and safety functions, ensuring the Construction Scheduler, Cost Manager, and EHS Manager can escalate concerns without site-level interference
Coordinate cross-project resources, staffing, and vendor allocation to meet program-wide priorities and deadlines
Oversee commissioning, turnover, and closeout processes at the program level, ensuring consistency and completeness across sites
Manage relationships with Nscale leadership, investors, and executive stakeholders; deliver periodic program-level updates and briefings
Identify and mitigate program-level risks, including schedule slippage, cost overruns, supply chain disruptions, and resource conflicts
Ensure compliance with contract terms, safety standards, and quality requirements across the full project portfolio

What you'll bring

8+ years in construction management, with at least 3 years leading mission-critical builds such as data centers, semiconductor fabs or large industrial facilities.
Demonstrated experience directly managing General Construction Managers, program controls (scheduling and cost) functions, EHS leadership, and multi-site subcontractor teams
Strong command of program-level scheduling (CPM), budget and cost control, and contract administration
Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to read and interpret full construction document sets across civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines
OSHA 30 certification required
Valid driver's license; ability to travel between multiple project sites as required

Preferred

Experience overseeing hyperscale, colocation, or Tier III/IV data center construction programs
Familiarity with DCIM systems, raised floor environments, or critical power/cooling infrastructure at a portfolio level
Experience with program-level reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI)
PMP, CCM, or equivalent credential
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; advanced degree a plus

Character & Conduct

What We Value Most: Character & Conduct

Technical skills can be taught. Character cannot. At Nscale, we're looking for people who show up with integrity, treat others with respect, and take genuine ownership of their work. As a senior leader on the program, this individual also sets the tone for every direct report and site team they oversee. The following traits matter as much to us as any credential or years of experience:
Integrity - does the right thing even when no one is watching; never misrepresents status, costs, or progress to protect themselves or their team
Ownership mentality - treats the program as their own and holds themselves and their direct reports accountable without being told
Respectful under pressure - stays composed and professional with contractors, trades, direct reports, and internal Nscale teams regardless of the circumstances
Transparent communicator - surfaces problems early and honestly, never buries bad news, and expects the same from the teams they lead
Team-first attitude - ego stays at the gate; the program and the people on it come first
Reliable and consistent - shows up prepared, follows through on commitments, and does what they say they will do
We actively seek references that speak to a candidate's character, not just their technical output.

Tools & Software

Procore - program-wide project management, RFIs, submittals, daily reporting, and document control
Bluebeam Revu - drawing markup, QA/QC overlays
Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook (required); MS Project or Primavera P6 (preferred)
Power BI or equivalent - program-level reporting and dashboarding (preferred)

Work Environment & Schedule

Full-time role with regular travel across multiple project sites; on-site presence required as needed, particularly during critical milestones
Schedule flexibility required to support program needs across sites, teams, and time zones
Active construction environment when on-site - PPE required at all times
This is a full-time Nscale position. As Nscale's data center program pipeline grows, there will be opportunities to take on additional sites or programs.

Details

Location

Site-based at an Nscale data center campus, with travel between sites. This role is based in TX with up to 50% travel
