Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager leads day-to-day supply chain execution for North Wind's commercial and U.S. Government programs, reporting to the Director of Supply Chain. The Supply Chain Manager translates the enterprise supply chain strategy into program-level plans for planning, sourcing, procurement, and supplier management for subcontracts, materials, and services to support custom and complex non-recurring project-based procurement. Partnering with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Contracts, and Quality, the Supply Chain Manager ensures supply chain commitments are met on cost, schedule, and quality. The role develops and executes integrated mitigation and opportunity plans for procurement and supply chain risks, consistent with North Wind quality, policy, and performance standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning & Business Acquisition Support: Support all phases of the Business Acquisition Process by supporting technical team on material estimates, supplier quotes, sourcing plans, and make/buy inputs for proposals. Before program or project execution, ensure every element of the supply chain plan has complete, integrated, and accurate schedules, budgets, and procurement strategies.
  • Program Execution & Performance: Lead supply chain execution for assigned programs, with accountability for resource planning, material cost, forecasting, schedule performance, supplier performance, and risk, opportunity, and issue resolution. Manage horizontal and vertical integration across requirements, purchasing, and subcontractor management. Establish and track the supply chain metrics and drive corrective action when performance falls short.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Brief Program Management on status and issues affecting program cost, schedule, risks, and opportunities. Align project scope and deliverables with customer requirements, working closely with Program management, engineering, and quality. Elevate significant risks with recommended mitigation plans.
  • Procurement, Inventory & Logistics Management: Manage strategic purchasing, material delivery, supplier quality, logistics, and receiving inspection. Oversee freight expenditures and manage relationships with shipping providers. Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and cost, and lead supplier corrective actions.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop buyers, planners, and materials staff. Set daily priorities, balance workload across programs, and support hiring and performance reviews.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure supply chain activities comply with North Wind policies, quality requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable FAR/DFARS requirements. Implement standardized processes and lean practices that improve cost, quality, and delivery.

  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain or materials management, preferably in an aerospace organization.
  • Experience supervising buyers, planners, or materials staff.
  • Experience supporting sustainment programs or projects.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government contracts in a FAR/DFARS-regulated environment.
