Join North Wind - Accelerating National Advantage At North Wind, we are advancing hypersonic technologies through cutting-edge research, system development, and flight testing. Our team drives innovation in high-speed aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and mission-critical components, supporting every phase of hypersonic programs - from R&D to flight testing, if you are passionate about pushing technological boundaries in a dynamic environment, we invite you to join us. Position Summary North Wind is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support the design, development, testing, and documentation of electrical equipment, control systems, and electromechanical components used in wind tunnel and hypersonic ground test facilities. Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, the intern will gain practical experience developing custom equipment, supporting facility upgrades, and helping deliver engineering solutions that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the design, development, and testing of electrical systems, control equipment, and electromechanical components.
Support the preparation and review of engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and electrical panel layouts.
Assist with selecting and sizing electrical components, including relays, circuit breakers, switches, motors, and instrumentation.
Help develop and evaluate control systems involving sensors, valves, servos, motors, and other industrial equipment.
Support engineering calculations, electrical load assessments, and design validation activities.
Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, technical reports, and engineering presentations.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, production, and installation teams to troubleshoot issues identified during assembly and testing.
Participate in design reviews and project meetings to communicate progress, discuss technical challenges, and learn engineering best practices.
Assist with project planning and tracking to help ensure engineering tasks meet schedule, budget, quality, and customer requirements.
Support proposal development through preliminary designs, technical research, cost estimates, and engineering recommendations.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline at an accredited university.
Coursework or academic project experience involving electrical circuits, control systems, instrumentation, power distribution, or electromechanical systems is preferred.
Familiarity with electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation is beneficial.
Experience with CAD or electrical design software is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently when appropriate, and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
Must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements due to project security requirements.

Work Environment This position offers exposure to engineering design, system integration, and testing in support of wind tunnel and hypersonic ground test facilities. The intern may collaborate with teams across engineering, procurement, production, and installation and may have opportunities to participate in design reviews or site visits. Some domestic or international travel may be required based on project needs. Internship Learning Opportunities Through this internship, students can gain practical experience in electrical system design, industrial controls, instrumentation, engineering documentation, troubleshooting, and multidisciplinary project execution while contributing to North Wind's advanced engineering programs.
