Original job description

About Noovo Noovo is looking for a motivated and hands-on Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative products and solutions for Class B camper vans. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who enjoys combining 3D modeling, mechanical design, prototyping, and hands-on problem-solving. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Assembly teams to bring ideas from concept to production while helping develop functional, high-quality products for the automotive and recreational vehicle industry.

Key Responsibilities

3D Modeling & Design: Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks or Onshape to support product design and development.
Prototyping & Testing: Build, assemble, and test prototypes to validate design concepts, identify potential issues, and implement design improvements.
Engineering Analysis: Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and design evaluations to ensure products meet performance requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
Product Development: Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Assembly teams to develop creative mechanical solutions and improve existing products and processes.
Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, and other documentation to communicate design concepts, test results, and recommendations.
Manufacturing Support: Provide hands-on engineering support during manufacturing and assembly, troubleshooting design challenges and ensuring quality control and adherence to design standards.
Vendor Coordination: Work with external vendors and suppliers by providing CAD models, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements, while responding to engineering questions.
3D Printing: Utilize 3D printing technologies to design and produce custom jigs, fixtures, templates, and prototypes using FDM, SLA, and SLS processes.
Project Documentation: Maintain accurate engineering records, including drawings, revisions, specifications, and project files to ensure traceability and effective knowledge transfer.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve product functionality, manufacturability, assembly processes, and overall product quality.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
1–3 years of experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or a comparable parametric CAD program.
Familiarity with technical documentation and graphics software such as Figma, Google Slides, Adobe InDesign, or similar programs.
1–3 years of AutoCAD experience preferred.
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including tolerance stacking, dimensional accuracy, assembly fitment, and mechanical systems.
Experience with 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLA, and SLS, is preferred.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and design for manufacturability.
Familiarity with applicable engineering standards and regulations, such as ASME and ISO.
Interest in automotive technology, vehicle systems, and product development.
Basic experience using hand tools and performing hands-on assembly or mechanical work.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and comfortably move within and around a Class B van.
Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Skills & Preferred Experience The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who enjoys both computer-based engineering design and hands-on work. Additional qualifications include:

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to develop creative, practical, and innovative mechanical designs.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications.
Experience preparing CNC files and/or operating CNC equipment is a plus.
Hands-on experience with cabinetry, carpentry, van conversions, automotive components, hardware, or mechanical assembly is highly desirable.
Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, manufacturers, and internal teams.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is curious, resourceful, detail-oriented, and excited to see their engineering designs become real products. The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical engineering challenges, experimenting with new ideas, working with tools, and collaborating with a team to bring innovative products to life. If you're an engineer who enjoys working beyond the computer screen and wants to be involved in the entire product development process - from initial concept and CAD design to prototyping, testing, and manufacturing - we'd love to hear from you. Join Noovo and help engineer the next generation of innovative Class B van products! Equal Employment Opportunity Noovo is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws. We value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
