Original job description

About NewtonX

NewtonX is a B2B insights company trusted by the world's most innovative companies to make high-stakes decisions with confidence. We combine a verified network of business professionals with AI-powered research tools to deliver research intelligence faster, more precise, and more defensible than traditional methods.

Our clients include Google, Microsoft, TikTok, DoorDash, Stripe, and Coinbase. Our research has been cited by Fortune, Forbes, TechCrunch, Adweek, and the Wall Street Journal.

NewtonX has raised $47M from investors including Two Sigma Ventures, Third Prime, XFund, and Citi Ventures.

THE ROLE

Every engineering team at NewtonX depends on the infrastructure platform layer to build, deploy, and operate their services reliably - but they should depend less and less on DevOps as we automate everything. That's the mission.

In this role you'll own significant pieces of the platform that keep NewtonX running: the CI/CD pipelines that ship code, the GKE clusters that run it, the observability stack that watches it, and the security controls that protect it. You won't be maintaining someone else's setup - you'll be improving it, questioning it, and replacing the parts that no longer fit.

The technical challenge: a GCP-native stack spanning GKE, Cloud Run, Dataflow, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Cloudflare, serving five engineering teams with different deployment patterns and reliability requirements. If you love building platform infrastructure that quietly makes everyone else's job easier and occasionally loudly fixing things before they break, this is where you'll do meaningful work.

WHAT YOU'LL BUILD

You'll own platform work end-to-end, from design through deployment and operation.

Improve infrastructure reliability: Own GKE workloads, Cloud Run services, and the shared platform layer. Identify single points of failure and eliminate them before they become incidents.
Evolve CI/CD pipelines: Maintain and harden shared GitHub Actions workflows used by all engineering teams. Supply-chain security, EOL runtime upgrades, reusable composites.
Build and operationalize observability: Metrics, logs, alerting, and on-call workflows using Datadog and Prometheus. Design dashboards that surface problems, not noise.
Drive infrastructure-as-code standards: Write, review, and refactor Terraform across all environments. Set the bar for what good IaC looks like at NewtonX.
Improve event-driven autoscaling: Advance KEDA with application-aware custom metrics per workload - moving beyond CPU thresholds to metrics that actually reflect load.
Harden security posture: IAM least-privilege, Workload Identity Federation, SOC2 evidence, Cloudflare Zero Trust, and CI/CD supply-chain controls.
Roll out data anonymization: Implement and scale data anonymization tooling across dev and staging environments to support safe PR deployments and data replication workflows.
Collaborate across teams: Architecture reviews and direct partnership with engineering teams on infrastructure decisions.

OUR TECH

GCP, Terraform, Kong, GitHub Actions,Kubernetes,Datadog,Prometheus, Cloudflare Stack, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, Python, and etc

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

REQUIRED

Experience: Minimum 5 years in relevant technology roles (DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE). At least 1 year in a Senior DevOps position, or 2+ years as a mid-level engineer with demonstrated ownership of production systems.
GCP and Kubernetes: Strong hands-on experience with GCP and production Kubernetes environments. You've operated these at scale, not just deployed to them.
Terraform: Solid infrastructure-as-code knowledge, writing, reviewing, and refactoring independently. Not just running terraform apply.
Strong observability knowledge: Metrics, tracing, logging, and alerting in production. Experience designing on-call workflows and incident runbooks.
Strong security knowledge: IAM least-privilege, identity federation, secret management, network controls. Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2 a plus).
CI/CD and automation: Building and maintaining pipelines and reusable deployment workflows. Scripting proficiency for tooling and automation.

NICE TO HAVE

Demonstrated architectural decision-making that significantly improved company security, scalability, and performance.
GitOps: ArgoCD or Flux
Auth0 or similar IdP: SAML, M2M, JWT
Database management( e.g. PostgreSQL)
Experience with Ingress Controllers or API Gateways (e.g., Kong, NGINX, Istio)

WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS

We care less about credentials and more about demonstrated ability. If you've built something interesting within infrastructure, a side project, an open-source contribution, a blog post that shows how you think, put that at the top of your application.

WHY JOIN NEWTONX?

Frontier technology: Work with cutting-edge AI systems, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in enterprise AI applications
Exceptional traction: Strong product-market fit with the world's largest investment banks, hedge funds, and consulting firms
World-class team: We take talent density seriously. Work alongside incredibly smart, driven people who are passionate about their craft
High velocity: Ship features that directly impact how billion-dollar decisions are made
Growth opportunity: Join during a hypergrowth phase with clear paths for technical and career advancement
Impact: Your work will directly shape how the world's leading organizations make critical business decisions

WHAT WE OFFER

Competitive compensation and equity. (Please note that salary and compensation may vary based on skills, experience, performance, and location.)
Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
401k match with immediate vesting.
Generous Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave.
A diverse, collaborative, and positive culture where we invest in and celebrate each other’s success.
Flexible work environment where we work hard but have fun (happy hours, team projects, and retreats).

NewtonX is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or any other applicable legally protected characteristics.
