National Technologies (NTI), a Network Connex Company, is a premier turnkey installer of fiber optic and data center infrastructure. Working on our team puts you on the leading edge of innovation in the digital communications space.

If being a part of a world-class organization that operates in some of the most advanced technological environments around the world sounds like a dream job, Network Connex might be the right fit for you! You’ll be part of a team working together to solve customer problems every day, with compensation and benefits that are an investment in your career, financial future, and overall well-being.

Job Summary: The Subcontractor Field Manager sets expectations and provides day-to-day guidance to NTI field resources overseeing subcontractor resources assigned to NTI projects. This position works with Preconstruction, Project Managers and delivery leaders to help determine manpower needs, delineate scope and ensure subcontractor teams understand their bid requirements. Contracted scope, staffing plan, schedule commitments, quality expectations, safety requirements, and customer standards should be clearly defined before and during execution.

The role works closely with Project Management and Field Operations to translate project requirements into clear daily expectations, concise timelines, and consistent reporting on par with the rest of our teams. They should also receive and document field performance for attendance and general manpower commitments along with identified gaps or risks and timely corrective actions. The Subcontractor Field Manager documents performance objectively and escalates scope, schedule, quality, safety, or resource concerns through the Project Manager, Field Leaders and the Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct field guidance to assigned NTI resources for operational oversight of subcontractor supervisors, foremen, and assigned resources while respecting the subcontractor employer relationship and NTI project authority.
  • Review contract scope, drawings, specifications, customer standards, installation methods, schedule milestones, site rules, and acceptance criteria with subcontractor leadership before work begins and as requirements change.
  • Confirm subcontractor staffing plans, crew composition, required certifications, tools, test equipment, personal protective equipment, and site access readiness align with project commitments.
  • Ensure daily attendance, start times, crew size, work hours, absences, late arrivals, early departures, and changes in staffing against approved manpower commitments are monitored and reported.
  • Validate actual field progress against daily and weekly production plans, look-ahead schedules, milestone dates, and committed completion targets.
  • Evaluate subcontractor field performance based on safety, quality, productivity, workmanship, supervision, documentation, schedule reliability, housekeeping, and responsiveness.
  • Conduct routine field walks with subcontractor leadership to verify scope coverage, identify constraints, confirm work sequencing, and resolve execution gaps before they affect production.
  • Maintain objective daily records of attendance, manpower, completed quantities, work locations, constraints, corrective actions, and follow-up commitments.
  • Identify potential out-of-scope work, changed conditions, drawing conflicts, access restrictions, material shortages, and customer-driven changes; document the issue and route it to Project Management before unauthorized work proceeds.
  • Require subcontractor leadership to develop and execute recovery plans when attendance, staffing, production, quality, or schedule performance falls below commitment.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Field Operations, Safety, Quality, Logistics, and customer representatives to remove obstacles and maintain clear accountability for field execution.
  • Escalate repeated performance failures, uncorrected safety or quality concerns, missed commitments, or material risks to project and operations leadership with supporting documentation and recommended action.
  • Support subcontractor onboarding, field orientation, performance reviews, completion assessments, and lessons learned for future subcontractor selection and deployment.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of structured cabling, fiber installation, testing, rack and stack, data center white-space construction, or comparable low-voltage field operations.
  • Ability to read and apply drawings, specifications, bills of material, scope documents, customer standards, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to convert project requirements into clear daily assignments, measurable production expectations, and documented follow-through.
  • Strong field presence with the ability to hold subcontractor leaders accountable professionally, consistently, and without creating unclear employer or supervisory relationships.
  • Ability to assess manpower utilization, attendance reliability, workmanship, productivity, schedule performance, and execution risk using objective observations and records.
  • Proficiency with daily reports, manpower logs, attendance records, production tracking, issue logs, photographs, email, and standard project-management systems.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, conflict resolution ability, and disciplined escalation practices.
  • Ability to work across multiple active work areas, changing priorities, customer requirements, and accelerated project schedules.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and work varied shifts, including nights or weekends, when project conditions require.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in field supervision, subcontractor management, construction operations, project execution, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of experience leading or coordinating subcontractor crews, foremen, or multi-crew field execution preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring manpower, attendance, productivity, quality, safety, and schedule commitments on active construction projects.
  • Experience in large-scale data center, telecommunications, structured cabling, fiber, or mission-critical construction strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 30, manufacturer certifications, or relevant industry credentials preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk active project sites for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and twist.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate office and mobile equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of a computer keyboard and mobile device.
  • Ability to verbally communicate to exchange information in office, field, and active construction environments.
  • Ability to access active project sites, use ladders or stairs as required, and comply with personal protective equipment and site-safety requirements.
  • Travel up to 50% may be required.
