Original job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

Our Team

The Productivity Experience Engineering (PXE) Software Engineering team plays a vital role in developing internal solutions to streamline employee productivity. Our goal is to make employees' daily activities frictionless and nurture their overall experience, subsequently saving Netflix time and money.

About You

You are an individual who thrives on independence, has a passion for creating high-quality products, and can form close work partnerships with engineers, product managers, and designers. You are adept at problem-solving, enjoy a challenge, and have experience building scalable, high-performing applications. You have excellent communication and collaboration skills, and, most importantly, you have experience with back-end technologies, GenAI, LLMs, and possibly even applying them to enterprise problems.

In this role, you'll help shape our strategy and vision and help us integrate AI into our enterprise employee-facing applications. You’ll be a part of the team chartered with building company-wide tools for the entire workforce and will partner with your peers to execute and deliver on the broader strategy and vision. You'll design, develop, and maintain products, infrastructure, and integrations with third-party and other teams’ services. You will collaborate effectively with myriad teams and communicate technical ideas persuasively. You influence and shape team and project direction through effective partnerships across the entire company to save Netflix time and money and enhance productivity for the whole workforce.

Responsibilities

Design / architect, develop, test, deploy, and operate fully integrated solutions across build/buy that provide seamless end-to-end product experiences.
Influence broad AI strategy and vision for internal enterprise applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate generative AI solutions into existing workflow systems.
Apply AI responsibly to solve enterprise problems for the whole company.
Design, build, and maintain infrastructure for modern integration methods between our applications, third-party services, and other Netflix teams' services.
Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, other engineers, stakeholders, and vendors on projects within the team and across all of Netflix.
Communicate technical ideas and work closely with other members of the team.

We Value

You have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
You are passionate about engineering principles and developing tools and applications for impact with high quality.
You thrive in a dynamic environment where needs shift and can clearly articulate priorities and critical outcomes to your team.

Skills And Experience

Experience: + years as a software engineer who reliably delivers on time and at quality.
Passion to build internal solutions and own development of enterprise-wide applications
Languages and fundamentals: Strong Python and/or Java, with solid data structures, algorithms, design patterns and data-layer design.
Nice to have: Experience with Node, JavaScript, React, SpringBoot, NoSQL, GraphQL
Experience automating workflows across the enterprise
GenAI, LLMs, and AI Foundation: Experience building and shipping LLM-powered features (retrieval, agents, tool use, prompt and evaluation workflows), applying AI responsibly to real problems, and building shared libraries, platforms, and internal tools that other engineers use to build with AI.
APIs and integrations: Building quality APIs and integrating internal and third-party services.
Cloud and backend: Hands-on AWS and/or GCP, and scalable backend systems.
