Math Intervention Teacher (1.0) Cyrus Peirce School Nantucket Public Schools

Job Summary:

Nantucket Public Schools seeks [1] dynamic Math Intervention Teacher at Cyrus Peirce Middle School (grades 6-8). The successful candidate will have experience facilitating learning of disciplinary core ideas through engagement in math. The teacher will provide math support to students in grades 6-8 and when possible, co-teach with CPS math teachers.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks (Math) Bachelor’s Degree Massachusetts certification or the ability to become Massachusetts certified in Math (5-8)

Ideal Candidate:

Experience in middle school math teaching Passion for teaching math Ability to assess learning using a variety of methods Strong foundation in student-centered and culturally responsive pedagogy Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention Excellent classroom management skills SEI endorsement Ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators

Essential Functions:

Demonstrating appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction using Reveal Math (Tier I curriculum), Simplify Math RTI (Tier III curriculum), and other supportive programs (ALEKS) Continuously assessing and progress monitoring student’s math abilities, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each student, individually, and in group settings Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning Collaborating with colleagues to examine student data, plan curriculum and instruction, and share learning strategies so that students can access them in the math classroom Supporting Tier II intervention through a push-in model by working with guided math groups within the general education math classroom Attending and engaging in math professional development Completing other duties and professional responsibilities determined by administration
