People Operations Lead

Los Angeles, CA (onsite, including weekends) · $175,000–$225,000 + equity

A very well-funded energy company is scaling from R&D into construction and manufacturing, across Los Angeles and other sites. Its most urgent people need is employee relations. It wants a senior, hands-on people operations leader who handles sensitive issues well and can build the function as headcount grows.

What you'll do

• Own employee relations: investigations, performance concerns, policy questions and hard conversations
• Advise managers and leadership on people decisions
• Build out core people operations: policies, handbook and compliance
• Keep the company compliant in California and in other states as sites grow
• Work with the people systems team on HRIS and process automation
• Partner with site people leads as new locations grow

What you bring

• Several years as an HR generalist, HRBP or people operations leader, with deep employee relations experience
• California employment law and multi-state compliance experience
• Built or rebuilt people operations at a fast-growing company
• Calm, direct judgment in sensitive situations
• Wants to be in the office with the team, weekends included

Nice to have: supporting manufacturing or hourly workforces; helping open a new site
