Original job description

MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP SITE MANAGER

A global leader in steel equipment and technology is commissioning a new facility in the Ashland / Apple Grove area and needs an experienced Site Manager to run the maintenance workshop from the ground up. This is not a role where you're inheriting someone else's program. You're building it.

If you've spent 8+ years in the iron and steel industry, you've led maintenance or operations teams, and you're ready to step into something that isn't the same job at a different address - this is worth your attention.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage the maintenance workshop team at a new facility, ensuring equipment is properly maintained, resources are productive, and safety standards are upheld
  • Help define production schedules for thin-slab caster operations, factoring in mold and segment workshop capacity
  • Identify obstacles before they become problems - material shortages, design gaps, scheduling conflicts - and drive resolution
  • Continuously evaluate staff performance and provide direct, timely feedback
  • Participate in and lead root cause analysis when equipment or process issues arise
  • Drive continuous improvement of procedures and machinery across the site
  • Own accurate time and performance reporting for your team
  • Make personnel decisions within HR policy and represent the maintenance function at the site level

What We're Looking For

  • 8 or more years of experience within the iron and steel industry - this is a hard requirement
  • A proven track record in a managerial or supervisory role; individual contributors will not be considered
  • Maintenance management experience with a clear understanding of reliability engineering strategies - planned maintenance, predictive programs, RCFA
  • Hands-on knowledge of either an operational or maintenance environment in steel or metals (melt shop, rolling mill, casting, machine shop, or equivalent)
  • Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering - or equivalent field experience that demonstrates the same depth
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally in the first year for training and site visits with the OEM team
