Original job description

Payroll Contractor LeMans Corporation Janesville, WI

Summary We’re looking for a detail-focused, deadline-driven Payroll Contractor with strong ADP experience to own end-to-end payroll processing and help keep everything compliant, accurate, and on time. You’ll handle complex payroll scenarios, troubleshoot issues, partner with HR/Finance, and improve processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Process and audit multi-state payroll on a regular schedule (weekly/biweekly/semi-monthly), ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery
  • Administer payroll in ADP (e.g., Workforce Now, Vantage, or similar ADP platform), including maintenance of employee records, earnings, deductions, and taxes
  • Review timesheets/timekeeping data; validate approvals and resolve discrepancies
  • Handle payroll adjustments: retro pay, bonuses, commissions, garnishments, terminations, and leave pay (FMLA/LOA)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage/hour and tax regulations
  • Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger entries; coordinate with Finance on journal entries and month-end close support
  • Manage payroll tax activities: ADP tax filings support, notices resolution, W-2 administration, and year-end processes
  • Serve as a go-to escalation point for payroll questions and issue resolution
  • Support audits (internal/external), document controls, and maintain payroll SOPs
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and ADP best practices
  • Partner with HR on onboarding/offboarding, benefits deductions, and employee data integrity

What You Bring

  • 3–7+ years of progressive payroll experience; senior-level processing and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with ADP payroll systems (Workforce Now strongly preferred – including Workforce Manager Time Functions; other ADP platforms acceptable)
  • Experience processing payroll for multi-state populations and handling complex pay scenarios
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance: wage/hour, taxes, garnishments, and recordkeeping
  • Comfort with reconciliations and payroll reporting (ADP reports, Excel, GL coordination)
  • High proficiency in Excel (lookups, pivots, filters, basic formulas; advanced skills a plus)
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to explain payroll topics clearly
  • Discreet with confidential information; excellent attention to detail and time management

Nice to Have

  • ADP certifications or implementation experience
  • Experience with timekeeping systems (ADP Time & Attendance, Kronos/UKG, etc.)
  • Manufacturing/distribution payroll experience
  • Experience with benefits deductions, HSA/FSA, 401(k) file coordination
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC

Education High school diploma/GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.

Work Environment (customize)

  • Hybrid to Janesville, WI office or remote
  • Typical business hours with occasional peak periods (payroll processing and year-end)
