Aquatics Supervisor

The City of Mount Airy Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an Aquatics Supervisor to lead the Aquatics Division at Reeves Community Center. This position provides operational oversight of the aquatic programs and supervises aquatics staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality services for the community. The Aquatics Supervisor works under the general direction of the Parks and Recreation Assistant Director and Director, exercising a high level of independence in daily operations. Performance is evaluated through review of program outcomes, completed work, and regular communication with department leadership. The starting salary for this position is $37,903 annually. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Administration or a related field is preferred. Considerable experience in parks and recreation, including supervisory experience in a local government setting, is highly desirable. Relevant experience in aquatics operations may be considered in lieu of formal education. Ongoing professional development in parks and recreation or aquatics is preferred. • Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED (American Red Cross)
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO)*
• Water Safety Instructor (American Red Cross)
• Lifeguard Instructor (American Red Cross) *
• Water Fitness Instructor*
• Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) – National Recreation and Park Association (preferred)

*Required within six (6) months of employment.
