Job Title:

Sustainability Environmental Manager

Summary:

The Sustainability Environmental Manager will play a key role in turning Momentive’s sustainability ambitions into meaningful action across our global operations. This is an opportunity for a technically strong sustainability professional who enjoys working at the intersection of manufacturing, technology, data, and environmental strategy to make a visible impact.

As part of Corporate Sustainability, you will partner with manufacturing sites and leaders across Technology, Procurement, Product Stewardship, and the businesses to identify and advance opportunities in decarbonization, energy efficiency, renewable energy, circularity, waste reduction, water conservation, sustainable materials, and product environmental performance.

You will take opportunities from idea to execution, evaluating technical feasibility, building the business case, developing implementation roadmaps, and measuring results against Momentive’s sustainability goals. You will also help modernize how sustainability performance is managed, using AI, automation, and advanced analytics to strengthen data quality, uncover insights, and enable faster, more informed decisions.

This role is ideal for someone who wants more than a traditional reporting-focused sustainability position. You’ll have the opportunity to influence strategy, solve complex technical challenges, collaborate across functions and manufacturing sites, and help shape how sustainability is embedded into the way Momentive operates and innovates.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as Corporate Sustainability’s technical expert for decarbonization, energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, waste reduction, circularity, and sustainable products across global manufacturing sites.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Technology, Procurement, Product Stewardship, and business teams to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and implement sustainability projects, including business cases, roadmaps, KPIs, and performance tracking.
  • Lead Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG-reduction initiatives involving operational efficiency, energy transition, low-carbon materials, supplier engagement, and value-chain collaboration.
  • Advance circularity, waste reduction, and water conservation through material efficiency, prevention, reuse, recycling, sustainable raw materials, circular design, and improved water management.
  • Manage the global environmental data system, including vendor coordination, maintenance, governance, controls, validation, and collaboration with site personnel.
  • Apply AI, automation, and advanced analytics to improve data collection, detect anomalies, analyze trends, forecast performance, and accelerate decision-making.
  • Develop standards, tools, guidance, and training, and support customer inquiries on environmental performance, climate strategy, and circularity.
  • Monitor technologies, regulations, industry practices, and peer performance; prepare executive dashboards; and support CDP, EcoVadis, Sedex, ESG reporting, and other disclosures.

Travel: Willingness to travel 10-20%, including international trips as needed.

Qualifications:

The following are minimum qualifications for the role

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or scientific fields, ideally in chemical engineering, environmental or sustainability
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in sustainability, environmental management, energy management, or a related role ideally within the chemical industry
  • Hands-on experience in at least one: energy efficiency, environmental improvement initiatives, or Life Cycle Assessments(LCA).
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience analyzing environmental, sustainability, energy, or operational data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Teams.
  • Strong English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work across global time zones, including occasional early-morning or evening calls.

The following are preferred for the role

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience in the chemical, specialty materials, or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working in a global organization.
  • Knowledge or experience in the silicones industry.
  • Experience with sustainability/environmental data management software, such as Sphera.
  • Experience using AI, automation, or advanced analytics for sustainability or environmental data.
