Thermal System Design Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Thermal System Design Engineer for a Contract with a client in Long Beach, CA. The ideal candidate will design and develop thermal system hardware for automotive applications, translating performance requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions while collaborating across engineering teams to support product development and launch. Rate Range: $40/Hour to $42/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Thermal System Design Engineer Responsibilities include:

• Lead the design and development of thermal system hardware, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements are met.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for coolant, HVAC, refrigeration, and heat-exchange components.
• Package and route thermal system components within vehicle architectures while resolving interface and space constraints.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFA principles to optimize designs for production and assembly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, controls, testing, and supplier partners to support product development and launch activities.
• Support engineering change management, design validation, DFMEA activities, and continuous improvement of thermal system designs.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design of automotive components, systems, or thermal management hardware.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA, NX, or 3DEXPERIENCE) with experience creating detailed part and assembly designs.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
