Original job description

Overview

The Island Platform Ecosystem organization is responsible for helping ensure customers can rely on our cloud services through industry-leading resiliency, business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational excellence. We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead product strategy and execution for resiliency, continuity, reliability, performance, and security capabilities across the Microsoft Dataverse ecosystem, which powers Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Copilot experiences used by customers worldwide. This role operates at the intersection of customer trust, platform resiliency, capacity strategy, service growth, and business priorities. The successful candidate will thrive in dynamic environments, navigate complex cross-organizational challenges, and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes. They will possess exceptional communication skills, demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and effectively balance competing priorities while maintaining a customer-first mindset. The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable, and highly collaborative. They listen deeply to customers and partners, incorporate feedback into decision-making, and influence organizations through data, empathy, and clear communication. They are comfortable operating in evolving environments where priorities, constraints, and opportunities may shift and consistently bring clarity, structure, and focus to complex problems. The products and decisions led by this role will directly influence customers’ ability to maintain critical business operations and trust Microsoft cloud services during regional or service-level disruptions. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end product lifecycle for resiliency, disaster recovery, capacity management, and business continuity capabilities across the Microsoft Dataverse ecosystem powering Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Copilot experiences, from concept and investment planning through launch, adoption, and operational maturity.
Drive strategic investments and prioritization decisions that balance customer experience, service reliability, business objectives, operational constraints, and long-term platform growth.
Partner with Engineering and Business Planning teams to evolve resiliency standards, recovery objectives, capacity strategies, failover approaches, and operational readiness frameworks.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Support organizations to understand customer needs, align priorities, and influence product strategy and adoption.
Work directly with customers to understand business needs, gather feedback, shape product direction, drive roadmap discussions, and deliver customer-facing communications that build confidence in service readiness and resiliency.
Develop executive-facing recommendations regarding resiliency investments, risk management, service dependencies, business continuity strategy, and capacity planning.
Drive alignment across senior stakeholders through active listening, data-driven insights, clear communication, and principled decision-making while successfully navigating ambiguity and changing business conditions.
