You own the practice's business strategy and risk governance, and you serve as the senior executive relationship for the contractors, owners, and agencies that drive these markets nationwide. Strategy and growth

  • Set the national alternative delivery strategy and annual business plan with the National Practice Leads and Regional Directors, including target markets, contractor partners, and delivery models (design build, progressive design-build, CM/GC, and P3).
  • Own the alternative delivery pipeline, backlog, and win-rate targets and lead strategic positioning and capture planning on major opportunities.
  • Partner with Regional leadership, client service teams, and local offices to build targeted client service action plans.

Client and contractor relationships

  • Develop and maintain trusted-advisor relationships with key contractors, owners, and public officials nationwide.
  • Deploy the firm's technical and delivery resources across offices and practices to serve clients and contractors and strengthen the firm's results.
  • Serve as executive sponsor and escalation point for complex alternative delivery projects in progress, and assign and support the project executives who run delivery.

Pursuit and risk governance

  • Lead Go/No-Go decisions with the National Practice Leads, Regional Directors, and Legal, and set the criteria and approval thresholds.
  • Oversee pursuit teams from capture planning through statements of qualifications, proposals, interviews, and negotiations, and lead the transition from pre-award to post-award contracting.
  • Review and approve alternative delivery contracts, including teaming agreements, design subcontracts, and joint venture agreements with contractor clients.
  • Negotiate risk allocation with Legal, including indemnity, insurance, liquidated damages, and limits of liability, and guide the resolution of disputes and claims.

Delivery and financial performance

  • Be accountable for successful contracting and project execution, working with Michael Baker staff and leadership across the country.
  • Support and monitor key financial KPIs for the alternative delivery practice, including project funding, net revenue, margin, cash, and backlog.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, quality assurance and control, and ethical conduct on every project.

People and culture

  • Lead, develop, and plan succession for the alternative delivery leadership team, including the Regional Practice Leaders.
  • Build bench strength in project executives, design managers, and key personnel with alternative delivery experience.
  • Build collaboration across offices and regions so the best talent is applied to each pursuit.
  • Represent Michael Baker in key alternative delivery industry organizations.

What you bring Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or business from an accredited program.
  • At least 20 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, executing and managing work in transportation, the Federal market, or other infrastructure markets served by the practice (such as water, aviation, and rail and transit).
  • At least 10 years of business development experience, preferably in alternative delivery markets.
  • Proven track record of leading winning pursuits and delivering complex alternative delivery projects, including projects of [insert construction value threshold] or more.
  • Senior leadership experience, including P&L responsibility for a business unit of comparable scale.
  • Experience negotiating and reviewing alternative delivery contracts, teaming agreements, and risk allocation, and resolving disputes.
  • Proven ability to build client and contractor relationships and develop business, with active involvement in industry organizations.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leaders, employees, clients, and public officials.

Preferred
