Litigation Manager

Risk Management Programs (RMP) is searching for a licensed attorney to serve as Litigation Manager.

RMP is a Roanoke-owned and operated company that provides third-party administrative services and operational support for self-insurance risk pools. We are known for exceptional service, forward-thinking solutions, and strong relationships with our members.

What You’ll Do:

• Supervise the Litigation Specialists who serve as adjusters for litigated claims against local government entities, public officials, school leaders, law enforcement officers, and their employees.
• Review and evaluate claims for settlement opportunities.
• Oversee the selection and management of litigation counsel, ensuring effective representation and cost management.
• Attend mediations for high value/high risk cases.
• Defend VACORP and WVCORP in state and federal court as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school is required.
• Active license to practice in Virginia is required; license to practice in West Virginia is preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience defending local governments in state and federal courts.
• Strong understanding of litigation processes, including trial, appellate, and alternative dispute resolution.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Section 1983 claims, employment discrimination claims, public officials’ liability, law enforcement liability, and school law are required.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to effectively resolve disputes are required.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing a team are required.

Additional Requirements:

• Travel within Virginia and West Virginia for mediations and meetings with Members, including occasional overnight travel, is required. Additional travel may be required as assigned. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and automobile liability insurance are required.

Expected Salary Range: $150,000-$200,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

This is an in-office position; remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available. Risk Management Programs is a tobacco-free workplace.
