Equipment Operator

Description NEW SHIFT OPPORTUNITY!

MetalX is expanding our shredding operations to 7 days a week, and we're hiring an Equipment Operator to join our team! This position will initially work 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, with plans to transition to a 4-day workweek, Monday–Thursday, working 10-hour shifts in the near future.

Position Overview The Equipment Operator safely and efficiently moves freight, stock or other materials throughout the yard to designated areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations by forklift, skid steer or loader in a safe and timely manner
• Complete and maintain necessary paperwork pertinent to the assigned department
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on mobile equipment, as required
• Follow dress code and ensure proper PPE is worn at all times
• Make decisions, solve problems, and handle high stress situations calmly and safely

Requirements

Job Requirements/Skills

• Knowledge of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metals
• Forklift experience required
• Computer experience preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem solving skills

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements

• Walk, sit, stand, stoop for long periods of time
• Ability to climb in/on mobile equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
• Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
