Original job description

Grow Your Career. Make a Difference. Join MDK.

At MDK, technology does more than support the work. It helps move our business and clients forward. We’re seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer who brings strong technical judgment, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to building reliable solutions.

In this role, you’ll develop, maintain, and modernize MDK’s legal case-management platform. You’ll work across front-end applications, back-end services, integrations, and databases. You’ll also help shape technical solutions, improve system reliability, and mentor junior developers while partnering with business and technical teams.

A Culture of Collaboration, Growth, and Belonging

At MDK, a law firm built on purpose and progress, we believe people thrive when they feel respected, connected, and empowered to grow. Our culture is rooted in creativity, support, and open communication, where learning is continuous and every team member is encouraged to bring their whole self to work.

We value diverse perspectives and foster belonging through cross-team collaboration and employee-led programs that reflect who we are. From wellness initiatives to community engagement, MDK is a place where people feel seen and supported.

What makes MDK’s culture compelling:

Professional growth supported by regular one-on-one conversations with leaders
Flexibility and time off that prioritize real work-life balance
Volunteer Time Off that connects employees with causes they care about
Inclusive programs like our Culture Council, affinity groups, book club and Art@MDK
A collaborative environment built on shared success and open feedback

Your Role in Action

Design, develop, maintain, and improve software across MDK’s legal case-management platform.
Build and support back-end services, Web APIs, background processes, and responsive web applications using C#, .NET, and modern front-end technologies.
Design and optimize SQL Server databases, T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, indexes, and data models.
Integrate internal applications with third-party systems through APIs, file exchanges, queues, and document-automation tools.
Modernize established applications through practical, incremental improvements while maintaining production stability.
Improve automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, code-quality controls, and repeatable deployment processes.
Monitor production performance, lead root-cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions to system issues.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship through code reviews, design discussions, documentation, and collaboration with junior developers.
Partner with business and technical teams to understand needs, recommend practical solutions, and explain technical decisions clearly.
Support MDK’s mission, values, initiatives, and team goals through collaboration, accountability, and technical leadership.

The responsibilities defined above are not an all-inclusive list, but a general summary of typical duties. Individuals in this position may be asked to perform a wide range of related tasks.

Qualifications

Your Background & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 10 years of professional software development experience, including substantial full stack responsibility.
Deep experience with C# and .NET, including .NET Framework and modern .NET technologies such as ASP.NET Core and Web API.
Strong front-end development experience with Angular, React, or Vue, along with TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL experience, including database design and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, including indexing, mappings, queries, aggregations, or observability use cases.
Experience with Git, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines, preferably in Azure DevOps.
Demonstrated ability to design solutions across multiple applications and translate business needs into workable technical plans.
Experience mentoring developers and improving team coding, design, testing, and documentation practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge existing approaches when appropriate and recommend practical solutions.
Experience with WPF, Azure services, Power BI, SSIS/SSRS, document automation, message queues, Playwright, or AI-assisted development tools is preferred.

Your Work Style

Success in this role also comes from how you approach your work, decisions, and team. You:

Bring flexibility and adaptability, staying open to new ideas and better ways of working.
Approach complex problems with curiosity, sound judgment, and a desire to keep learning.
Take ownership of your work and remain effective when priorities or technical challenges change.
Collaborate openly, share knowledge, and provide constructive guidance to others.
Communicate respectfully, listen to different perspectives, and explain technical decisions clearly.
