Van Driver

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the safety of participants from pick-up to destination which may include to our Adult Day Health Center or medical appointments.
• Responsible for assisting participants in and out of the vehicle, assisting as necessary in chairlifts and/or wheelchairs.
• Deliver supplies as scheduled.
• Keep transportation records of pickups and drop offs and deliveries.
• Communicate regularly with dispatchers, Transportation Supervisor and other pertinent staff.
• Responsible for ensuring vehicle cleanliness and proper operating maintenance.
• Completes ongoing training program requirements as per agency policy for the following essential elements and driver recertification: annual wheelchair and passenger assistance, vehicle and medical emergency procedures, and safe driving techniques. Attends in-services as required.
• Validates competency in basic skills and transportation services, annually, and as otherwise required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license to operate a van or bus within the state of Ohio; no more than two points permitted upon hire required.
• One year transportation experience with competence in transporting individuals with special mobility needs; a minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly population.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or CED preferred.
• Safe driving training required; knowledge of Cleveland/Cuyahoga County streets desirable.
