We provide foundational technology products and services across Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. The Cloud Security Engineer III role is part of the Cloud Ecosystem team and reports to the Senior Manager of Cloud Security Platform Engineering.
This role engineers and operates enterprise cloud security platforms across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, with a primary focus on Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP), Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), vulnerability management, identity and entitlement risk, attack-path analysis, policy enforcement, platform integrations, and automated remediation. The position uses Infrastructure as Code (IaC), policy-as-code, APIs, scripting, and CI/CD integrations to embed security controls into cloud platform workflows. The role partners with Cloud Platform, DevOps/SRE, Application Security, Detection Engineering, Incident Response, Cybersecurity, and Risk teams to enable secure-by-design cloud adoption at enterprise scale.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
•Engineer and operate enterprise CNAPP and cloud security platform capabilities across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including CSPM, vulnerability management, identity and entitlement risk, attack-path analysis, data security, policy management, reporting, and automated remediation.
- Configure and maintain cloud security platform policies, connectors, APIs, service integrations, dashboards, and remediation workflows, with emphasis on scalable and measurable security outcomes.
- Implement cloud security controls across identity and access, workload identity, network security, data protection, encryption and key management, vulnerability management, logging and monitoring, threat detection, and incident response.
- Design and implement preventative and detective guardrails using AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies, Azure Policy, Google Cloud Organization Policy, and equivalent cloud-native controls.
- Build automated remediation capabilities that prioritize systemic, platform-level fixes over one-time resource remediation.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules, policy-as-code, APIs, and scripts that deploy and operate cloud security controls consistently across enterprise environments.
- Integrate security checks and policy enforcement into CI/CD workflows such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.
- Integrate cloud security platforms with SIEM/SOAR, ticketing, asset management, vulnerability management, and incident response processes.
- Analyze cloud security findings and attack paths to identify root causes, control gaps, and risk-reduction opportunities; translate findings into prioritized engineering work.
- Support cloud security incidents, investigations, and response activities by providing platform expertise, telemetry, and remediation support.
- Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate emerging cloud security capabilities and demonstrate business and risk-reduction value.
- Serve as a cloud security subject matter expert and provide technical guidance, standards, documentation, and mentoring to engineers and partner teams.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering, cloud security platform engineering, or cloud security architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on experience engineering or operating an enterprise CNAPP or cloud security platform such as Wiz, Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Orca Security, or an equivalent platform.
- Demonstrated experience with CSPM, vulnerability management, cloud configuration risk, identity and entitlement risk, attack-path analysis, security policy development, platform integrations, reporting, and automated remediation.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security architecture and controls across IAM, workload identity, network security, data protection, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability management, logging and monitoring, threat detection, and incident response.
- Experience designing and operating security guardrails using AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies, Azure Policy, Google Cloud Organization Policy, or equivalent cloud-native policy capabilities.
- Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly Terraform, including reusable modules and deployment of cloud security controls.
- Experience integrating security controls into CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, policy enforcement, and deployment guardrails.
- Experience developing security automation through APIs and scripting using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Go, or an equivalent language.
- Ability to analyze cloud security findings, identify systemic control gaps, and design scalable platform-level remediation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and mentoring capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise CNAPP platform, including policy configuration, connectors, APIs, automation, dashboards, reporting, and remediation workflows.
- Experience designing cloud security capabilities across multi-cloud environments spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Experience with cloud-native security services such as AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and Inspector; Microsoft Defender for Cloud; and Google Security Command Center.
- Experience with policy-as-code technologies such as Open Policy Agent (OPA), Rego, Terraform policy frameworks, or equivalent capabilities.
- Experience securing Kubernetes and container platforms, including image vulnerability management, cluster configuration, and security policy enforcement.
- Experience integrating cloud security data with SIEM/SOAR platforms, including Google SecOps, Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, or equivalent platforms.
- CCSK, CCSP, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, or an equivalent cloud security certification.
Experience
- 5+ years of cloud security engineering, cloud security platform engineering, or security architecture experience supporting enterprise AWS, Azure, or GCP environments, with a bachelor’s degree; or 3+ years of relevant experience with a master’s degree.
