Part-Time Math Instructor: Midday On-Campus Program (Mon–Thu, 12–3 pm)

Work location: In person, Sherman Oaks area (center and partner school campus)

WHO WE ARE

Mathnasium of Sherman Oaks is family-owned and rooted in this neighborhood. Our co-owner grew up here and attended Sherman Oaks Elementary, the same school many of our students come from today. Our instructors go places. One just left us for Yale, and another came back for the summer after his freshman year at the University of Chicago, where he’s majoring in math.

We’ve just expanded into an on-campus program at a local private school, and we’re growing the team that runs it. If you have open midday hours and want a part-time job that builds your resume, sharpens your teaching skills, and feels good to show up to, this is it.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE

  • Consistent midday hours, 12:00 to 3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. That’s a fit for college students with afternoon breaks, grad students, and parents during school hours.
  • Teach on a real school campus, then head back to our center by 3:00.
  • Want more hours? Afternoon and evening shifts at the center are open to on-campus instructors too.
  • Mileage reimbursed for travel between the center and campus.
  • Pay that grows with your math level. Stronger skills unlock more hours and more advanced students.
  • A premium brand with rigorous hiring standards. It’s a credential, not just a job.
  • All curriculum and teaching tools provided, so there’s no prep work on your end.

If you are driven, motivated, and eager to make a difference, we would love to meet you!

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Arrive on campus at 12:00 and teach two back-to-back sessions, 12:15–1:15 and 1:30–2:30, using the Mathnasium Method™. Full training provided.
  • Lead a small table of 3–4 students, each at a different point on their Math Journey.
  • Track student progress and adjust your approach to keep every student engaged.
  • Represent Mathnasium professionally on a partner school’s campus and follow its policies.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Genuine enthusiasm for math and for working with students.
  • Warmth and patience, so students and school staff feel at ease with you.
  • Math skills through at least Algebra I.
  • Must be available Monday through Thursday, 12:00 to 3:00 pm.
  • Able to commit through the end of the school year in June 2027.
  • A reliable car, a valid driver’s license, and punctuality. The school day runs on a bell.

THE HIRING PROCESS

We keep things personal. Our process starts with a phone conversation with our Center Director: no pressure, just a get-to-know-you. Candidates who are a great fit then take our math literacy assessment, which helps us place you with the right students. We also verify work authorization and run a DOJ background check through Mathnasium’s partner, Checkr. Don’t stress it. It’s not about perfection, it’s about fit. We’re looking for people, not scores.
