ABOUT THE JOB

The Manager of Data Engineering & Integration leads the Data Integration team responsible for the accurate, timely, and secure loading of client and vendor data - including eligibility, claims, pharmacy, lab, and related feeds - into Marathon’s data ecosystem. The successful candidate will manage a team of data integration analysts who build and operate data loads primarily through Boomi, SQL, and Python-based automation, and will serve as a key point of contact for clients, Client Success Managers (CSMs), and regional Vice Presidents and Directors regarding the onboarding, health, and quality of their data feeds. This is a highly client-focused, hands-on leadership role centered on data loading, feed monitoring, and transparency into the status of every client’s data - rather than on business intelligence or dashboard reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and mentor a team of data integration analysts responsible for loading client and vendor data feeds into Marathon Health’s data platforms.
  • Oversee the design, development, and operation of data loads and integrations, primarily using Boomi, SQL, and Python-based scripting.
  • Onboard and enable new client and vendor data feeds, coordinating specifications, mapping, and testing from intake through production.
  • Monitor the health and status of production data feeds, proactively identifying and resolving failures, delays, and data quality issues.
  • Provide transparency into client data loads, including waterfall reporting on record counts, load status, and exceptions from source file through final load.
  • Partner with Client Success Managers (CSMs), regional Vice Presidents, and Directors to communicate feed status, resolve data issues, and support client needs.
  • Meet directly with clients and external data partners to discuss the structure, quality, and completeness of their data.
  • Manage the creation and secure delivery of data exports and extracts to clients and vendors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness (e.g., SFTP with PGP encryption).
  • Establish and maintain scheduling and automation of recurring data loads and exports (e.g., via VisualCron).
  • Ensure data is loaded accurately and completely into the SQL Server EDW and Snowflake environments.
  • Define and enforce data integration standards, intake specifications, and best practices across the team.
  • Collaborate with Reporting, Data Engineering, and other internal teams to align data integration with downstream reporting and analytics needs.
  • Track and report on team workload, service levels (SLAs), and load status within a scrum/agile team model.
  • Maintain technical documentation for feeds, mappings, integration processes, and data exchange specifications.
  • Leverage automation and AI-assisted tooling where appropriate to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and monitoring of data loads (e.g., anomaly detection on feeds).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field and 7+ years of experience in data integration, data engineering, ETL/ELT, or data warehousing, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years of experience in a management or team lead role, ideally leading a team of data integration or data analysts.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong SQL skills, including writing and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with an integration / iPaaS platform such as Boomi.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Python.
  • Experience with job scheduling and workflow automation tools (e.g., VisualCron).
  • Experience loading and managing data in SQL Server and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS (S3, EC2).
  • Experience with secure file exchange, including SFTP and PGP encryption.
  • Experience producing and delivering data exports/extracts to external clients and partners.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce data is a plus.
  • Experience managing projects and priorities in an agile/scrum team model.
  • Exposure to using AI or automation to improve data loading, monitoring, or anomaly detection is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, CSMs, and senior leaders.
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to responsiveness, transparency, and service.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve data and feed issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, develop, and motivate a team of analysts.
  • Adaptability in response to changing client requirements and priorities.
  • Strategic thinking about data integration processes, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to stay current with new integration technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Collaborative approach to working across internal teams and with external partners.

Pay Range: $140,000 - $175,000/yr The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive.
