Storage & Backup Engineer

100% remote

Duration: 18 month contract

Pay Rate: $70/hr W2

Position Overview

We are seeking a Storage & Backup Engineer to support enterprise backup, recovery, virtualization, and storage infrastructure in a high-availability environment. This role focuses on administering backup platforms, automating operational processes, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Commvault and Cohesity backup environments
• Support VMware vSphere and ESXi infrastructure
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive issue resolution
• Implement upgrades, patches, and infrastructure changes
• Develop automation solutions using Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Python
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability
• Utilize ServiceNow for incident, problem, and change management activities
• Participate in an on-call rotation, including occasional after-hours and weekend support

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Commvault and/or Cohesity
• Experience supporting VMware vSphere/ESXi environments
• Strong automation skills using Ansible
• Experience with PowerShell and/or Python scripting
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Experience working within change management processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Hitachi or Dell storage platforms
• Experience supporting Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, or AIX environments
• Familiarity with NFS, SMB, Fibre Channel (FC), and iSCSI
• Experience with Grafana, Splunk, or Dynatrace
• Experience in a highly regulated enterprise environment
• Experience with security remediation and vulnerability management
